Kuwait Law Enforcement

@Marco...you have a valid point. It boils down to the driver and how some drivers don't follow road rules.

Kuwait Law Enforcement

@inthemind...true if you currently live in New York. We tend to implement our laws and have enough law enforcement agents to enforce the laws. Unlike in Kuwait, at least 75% of the drivers are migrant workers who are probably driving without a driver's license and getting paid under the table. There are several scenarios I can think of how these people get their driver's licenses, if any, but I know if something like this slips through the system in the US (if ever), they will get caught eventually and fined up the ying yang.

Kuwait Law Enforcement

@Elmorya...I thought about that too and I have taken pictures to and from work since we have to drive about an hour. I have to check the legality of that process before I get myself in trouble :(. Seems like it's a work of a vigilante lol.

Kuwait Law Enforcement

@spd...I''m not angry at all.

Kuwait Law Enforcement

Parti...one of the new requirement to get a driver's license here is a college degree; but some professions are exempted from this requirement. Not sure a college degree has anything to do with driving...maybe read signs lol.

Thanks for your inputs; however, running away from something I don't particularly like is not always the solution. Learning how to adapt in the environment I'm in, makes me more flexible and resilient.

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@Aswina...thank you. I don't think it will be the end of OUR bad experiences with customer service :(. Here's to wishful thinking lol wine

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@Jana, thank you for the clarification. I had to scroll back and I do apologize. I thought "FL" stood for something else and now I know your comment was meant Firaslion. My mistake...my apologies.

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@Maryrachelle...you have a valid point but the next question that made sense to me was, "Can I see your passport?" If he did, even if I was holding a Philippines passport, he would see the VISA in/on the passport.

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@inthemind...duly noted about Jana...just don't appreciate personal attacks. That's also one thing we have to be careful of, we all don't know each other personally is this type of forum so we have to be careful with how we put our thoughts on paper because our lines can easily be misconstrued.

Yes, things can easily get lost in translation. However, whatever comes out of our mouths are very hard to take back ones it's out. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

Thanks for your comments.

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@Oly, I was just there this past Saturday and didn't get a chance to do everything I wanted to do. I did get to go to the Hard Rock Cafe right before they close to get the classic shot glass I collect from every country I go to. I went to see the Burj Al Arab and Burj Khalifa. I also went to the Polo Club and got to see a female Polo tournament. Last stop was to see the Dubai Marina. This time we have tickets to actually go to the observation deck of the Burj Khalifa and then I'm going to go indoor skydiving at the iFly Dubai :). Yes, it will be fun!

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@Oly...alright, thanks for the clarification lol.

I've worked in Kuwait for over a year now and my only day off is on Tuesdays. There is really nothing to do on a Monday night over here so my co-worker and I decided to go to Dubai this time. He still has friends over there from his college days so we are hooking up with them.

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@Yazz1972...unfortunately, I can't contradict you on that one and absolutely, these people give the rest of the good people, with good intentions, a bad name.

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@Oly23...it's easy for us to say people need to know the boundaries between a professional and personal relationship. Unfortunately, even in today's world, for some it's hard to do because they still have the "caveman" mentality.

BTW, I gave you flowers? LOL. In any rate, heading your way (Dubai) with a co-worker (a male lol) to party Monday night. Not sure where at yet but definitely will be with a few people out that night.

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@Elmorya...you ask if body piercings will diminish your value in society? Your trade-in value maybe...just kidding lol. Have a wonderful day!

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@virgosingle...thank you :)

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@Elmorya...thank you for your comment. Although, you may have a point about how you portray yourself defines how well you will be respected; however, I can't totally agree with you on that. How well you are "treated" maybe. I've learned that a well-dressed and clean shaven man is more likely to be treated better than a grunge looking man with tattoos and piercings. Does that mean the grunge looking man with tattoos and piercings deserved to be treated less than the well-dressed and clean shaven man? Absolutely not! I tend to give people a benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. Thus, the famous saying, "Don't judge a book by it's cover."

What you stated may hold true when you've been around that person already a while but not a person you've just met on the street.

I'm definitely not a subservient type :). In addition, I hold my honor and self-respect at the highest possible elevation.

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@Jana...ummmmm...if you lose track of what is being discussed (or misunderstood my blog) here then you should keep your comment(s)/opinion(s) to yourself. No need to be rude...like I stated respect begets respect so I ask you to remain objective and not be subjective. Remain focused on the issue and not me a a person.

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@Jana28...please do not lose perspective. I am referring to people and not nations as a whole.

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@Firalion...thank you for your comment. It's not an everyday occurrence. I'm not stressed out about it. I created this blog to hear other people's opinions. You ask why I work here, to tell you honestly, it's where the money is. I've been here a little over a year and I leave here December 2012. When I leave here, I won't have any bills to pay to include a mortgage and have enough money saved to start a business in the Philippines then I can live off my U.S. military retirement pay for the rest of my life.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same thing for the Filipino TCN/OFW who have been here for several years and are planning to stay here for more. Life is not fair. I'm fortunate enough to have the upper hand.

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@summertan...thank you! I am proud to be a Filipino :)

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@oly23...you are absolutely correct! As I have replied to @notavailable, I too have met a lot of middle-eastern men to include Pakistanis whose shaken my hand especially those who work on an American base. As a westerner, if I am expected to conform to traditions and beliefs when I'm in their soil, wouldn't you think that should apply the other way around? Woman or man, a person is a person especially in a work/professional environment.

It's not someone's religion, culture, or the nation...just the person.

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@Jana...being less paid doesn't mean a person is less college- educated nor ignorant for that matter. It's not an excuse. There are several Filipinos working here that have college degrees and I have so much respect for them since I'm still working on mine. Fortunately for me, I had a opportunity to migrate to the U.S. and now earning a very decent living.

I really do feel it's the way a person is brought up (their culture). Treating people badly is just bad altogether. Like what @notavailable stated, it is in our character to be respectful to others.

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@Boy67...ummmmm...give respect to earn respect. Did he really believe that I will give him respect by the way he treated me condescendingly? We are taught to educate ourselves with the tradition and cultures when you go to another country so you won't act/look stupid, i.e. if it's okay to tip, proper way to use chopsticks, wear an appropriate attire, etc. I expect since this man works on an American base, he should do the same thing.

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@willem4u...my thoughts exactly!

Stereotypical, Plain Ignorance, or Lack of Respect

@notavailable...that's the thing...I've met a lot of middle-eastern men to include Pakistanis whose shaken my hand especially those who work on an American base. As a westerner, if I am expected to conform to traditions and beliefs when I'm in their soil, wouldn't you think that should apply the other way around?
