Drummer Lee Rigby of the 2nd Battalion, Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, was killed in Woolwich on 22 May 2013. He was murdered in broad daylight by Michael Adebolajo, 28, and Michael Adebowale, 22, after first being hit by a car then attacked with knives.
