RE: Guy Fawkes...

In the UK the fireworks problem is way out of control, it starts around the 25th October and continues every evening until into the new year. These people aren't 'celebrating' anything at all, in fact they have destroyed the whole meaning of Guy Fawkes and welcoming the New Year. They even set them off on Christmas Day.

Up until around 5 years ago, Guy Fawkes night was just a few fireworks being let off by random households. Now it is military grade mortars that feel like my windows are going to blow in. New Years Eve they start at 5pm and continue for 8 hours or more. Many escape the area and head for a large picnic area on the outskirts of the city until 1am. I do the same, its freezing cold, but better than having my brain blasted out of my skull.

It is truly horrendous, and makes the entire winter months an endurance test. The government loves it, as every year people go to work, earn money, buy fireworks and burn their wages. It takes millions of pounds out of circulation. They have already taxed the earnings, and taken the VAT on the sales.

Hundreds of thousands have signed online petitions demanding action but the UK government couldn't care less.
