We are all in here for different purposes and have our own preferances. Personally, I give out compliments and whether they reply or not, does not bother me. And if I do get a compliment, I always reply back.
Females do get a lot more emails than men, because men are simply brave enough to put themselves out there and take a chance. Internet makes anything possible!! If we did reply to all the emails, that would be letting the other party know we are interested and personally, that is giving false hope to the men that I am not interested in.
