I relocated to be with my second wife. She had a good job and I was quitting mine (i.e. leaving the Army). I thought 'Why should she give up a good job for me?' I was foolish. Her English was excellent and my German was pathetic. I eventually got a good job where German wasn't a necessity but by then it was too late and the marriage was over. I would say 'Let your head rule your heart' before you relocate. What are the pros? They should be obvious! But, also, what are the cons? You need to consider carefully what the move shall mean to you and not just that it makes sense for your love life. Life taking decisions should NOT be made without due consideration.
Many years ago I was studying in Denmark and there were several EU economics related topics. An American guy and myself wrote a 'report' (it wasn't exactly a dissertation, maybe an essay) comparing the EU with NAFTA. It was optimistic about the future. If I had to write on that same subject again I don't think I'd be so hopeful.
