The US and UK's relations with 'Huawei' are going sour.

The reality is all software and IT hardware will have a history of exploitable vulnerabilities, and it is pretty much impossible to determine which could be intentionally placed covert backdoors, especially as an advanced and sophisticated nation-state actor would seek to obfuscate any deliberately placed backdoor as an unintentional vulnerability.

For instance, the following are critical security vulnerabilities reported within tech made by US firms in just the last 9 days, no suggestion any of these are intentionally placed backdoors:

22-May-2019 New Zero-Day Exploit for Bug in Windows 10 Task Scheduler
14-May-2019 ZombieLoad: Researchers discover New Hardware Vulnerability in Modern Intel Processors
14-May-2019 Prevent a worm by updating Remote Desktop Services
13-May-2019 WhatsApp voice calls used to inject Israeli spyware on phones
13-May-2019 Cisco Secure Boot Hardware Tampering Vulnerability

Is it wise then to be suspicious of Chinese technology and not give them the opportunity to undermine our security by exploiting possible backdoor weaknesses? I feel that this perceived antagonistic attitude against China will come at a price to the UK economy. In light of the information above, is it right to follow the USA in this course of action?

So true mollybaby and that is how it has been for millennia and will continue if people don't challenge convention. That is why I started the blog to see what people thought and if I could get an insight into people's attitudes. Vivre pour vivre!

Thank you jimNastics for a very good and insightful view of religion. I am sorry that we crossed literary swords but I hope that you will take my apology in the spirit it is given.

I would have thought with a PhD jimNastic you might have given more of an explanation of why religion in whatever form should be 'put in a museum with other religions'. Perhaps you could give us the benefit of your extensive insight into the subject instead of a one line remark. I can understand if you have an adverse view of organised religion but please give us the benefit of a cogent, coherrent explanation.

I do understand JimNastics and it didn't go way over my head, as you say but I am trying to gain an insight to what people feel, think or dismiss about alternative ways of life. Your comment ironic as you might think it was did not contribute much of anything.

Hi daniela777 and sorry that you think I overlooked any of your comments but I can assure you I value every post.

With regard to your views on the restrictions placed upon people by religions is a very valid point and that is precisely why I begged the question whether we need to tolerate and promote other forms of alternative beliefs.

I do believe that a vast majority of people all over the world do want and need leaders but I do believe that there are a great number of people out there who don’t need to follow blindly and actively seek answers in different ways. I don’t regard an alternative lifestyle as swapping one religion for another. I think that is a somewhat naive view.

You make a point of being interested in Shamanism and state that they have deities within their belief system, so they will naturally revere if not worship them and perform rituals, yet you say they do not follow a religion when all their actions point to an organised religious group.

Please do not think I am denigrating any of your beliefs , I am merely giving my response to your observations.

If you going to make a comment which is either constructive or critical I would prefer them to have a modicum of intelligence. If you are going to post on the blog please try and show you have some intelligence and not a moron, or better still don't bother to post! sigh

We seem to have fixated on the formal side of religion and aired our frustrations, disgust or plain disenchantment with whichever one but I would like to delve into the more polytheistic alternative beliefs. daisy

I’m sorry usha123 if you felt that I was being disrespectful about my stating Buddhism as a religion but I merely outlined belief systems and Buddhism is classified as the 4th largest religion. Not my classification but societies.

To Elegsabiff thank you for your observations but I wasn’t sure whether you were writing a critique of me or religion! confused

Thanks for the comments so far I find them all thought provoking! Iam not really too sure what you mean itchyWitch can you expand upon your views and as you do that and being a Galway girl please do view my music page as there is a very nice video of Davy Spillane with his Uilleann pipes playing 'Caoineadh Cu Chulainn' and yes I do know the Irish story Bill Whelan based the music on. Enjoy and please keep the comments coming.

I follow my heart and mind and have no pre-conceptions. I respect all forms of reverence in whatever way people choose to perceive their existence but just ask that people respect my views. Maybe someone from the Wiccan or Witchcraft community could join in the thread and give us an insight into why they choose to live their life that way.

I merely pose a question in light of the obvious failure of recognised religions. I do not advocate that anyone should look for salvation, I merely use it in the context of what religion expects of us. I simply ask for peoples opinion on whether, if we do seek enlightenment or salvation, should we perhaps ‘tread a new path’ and seek answers in one of the other alternative forms of worship, contemplation, whatever you wish to call it.
