People are just looking for any reason to party. Poor Americans, they have virtually no vacations, so they "steal" one day here, one day there... So, don't be too hard on the slackers. BTW, why don't you take an extra day off? You probably deserve it.
Wow! Thanks everyone, for your comments. I have started looking for another opportunity. This time I will be the sole owner. The partnership route just doesn't seem to work for me. I keep getting burnt.
I had one that was going quite well (for a year)...until he insisted that I drop everything and move in with him, with no job, friends, family - no safety net whatsoever. I wasn't against moving, I just wanted to be prepared (and have a contingency plan in case it didn't work out, and he wouldn't have it. Broke it off when I said, "not yet". Brat! He regrets it now.
Despite this "failure" I think it can work. Both parties need to be fair and reasonable when negotiating arrangements.
I'm not into baseball (reminds me too much of rounders); prefer football (soccer), but now I'm curious. I like Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore, so I'll check it out.
biker123, this was my first reaction. But I'm trying not run every time I feel intimidated or afraid. I'd like to learn more about this industry, too, so if I do leave I'll have another skill to take with me.
virgo, thanks for you suggestions. These are great. Already tried some of them: taking an interest in the tech side. (learned to do oil changes and a couple of other minor stuff); updating them on admin issues, safety and compliance (v. important in this industry). I think the major problem is my size: I'm small and appear rather delicate, so there's a perception that I'm outside element.
I'll try your suggestions. Not ready to throw in the towel - just yet.
One unbiased person here (against atheists, at least).
Some of the worst atrocities against humanity have been committed by religious zealots. Notice, I said "zealots". Not all believers are flaming mad. It's people, not the religion itself, that are to blame for all the madness.
I'm so sorry it's raining on your parade. Look on the bright side, you have something(s)to celebrate: you've accomplished something admirable, your brother has reached an important milestone and..you're alive and healthy (enough to mow the lawn at least).
So it's raining. I say go out and dance in it. Gene Kelly did!
