Difficult to reply your question unless there is individual case. Reasons:
1st, “You THINK you are not able to meet her/his expectations” doesn’t mean that you ARE not able to.
2nd, the thing which you think for “her sake” doesn’t mean that it IS her sake.
If the communication is interesting and he/she does not make much pressure on me, I prefer to “stay” at friendship to see what is going on and what will be going on. JMOO.

I actually have a good enough job location in Viet Nam.
not a teacher. I have to travel a lot, will have other business trip to China end of this month. You are too young and your English is good.
