I agree with your suggested course of action, but why did you write "some people are here just to lift their ego,", especially JUST to lift their ego? It is not a process to belittle. If someone's ego is low, or damaged, the best thing they can do to themselves is to heal it, to lift it.
There is nothing sad about a person who is actively pursuing to better himself or herself.
Next, "if it is a free world... why be sarcastic?" Yes, it is a free world, and it enables furthermore empowers people to be sarcastic. Ever tried to be sarcastic in a Party Conference, or in Stalag 9 in the Gulag?
