My hair is usually sticking up a little, I wear jeans and a T shirt most of the time, running shoes or hiking boots, and occasionally a ball cap.
That's what I was wearing when I met someone from the site for coffee in September. I had also been on the road for 30 hours, had two naps in my truck, and been soaking wet twice from being rained on in between.
Oddly enough, she didn't run away, and still talks to me.
Umm, no, that wasn't it, I don't actually get much mail.
After watching others get their pics lifted and used for fake profiles I figured it best to hide mine for a while. I can get into enough trouble on my own, without someone else posing as me.
Last year I set up an 8 foot fibreglass step ladder in my living room, but couldn't find my lights to hang on it. Maybe I'll do it again this year, complate with illumination.
I bought a Series IIA Land Rover for the winter months, throw tire chains on it and go almost wherever you want. Not quite the same as a bike, but fun too.
I think many equate Harley problems with the old shovelheads, panheads, 45's and even older stuff. The evolution and newer engines aren't quite the same, even though they share the same configuration. `
My cousin takes his Harley on long road trips regularly, the summer before last, from the BC interior to Toronto and back, with detours along the way. A 10,000 km plus ride, and no issues at all, and none before that, or since.
I won't argue the reliability of Japanese motorcycles, like I said, I've owned several, and enjoyed them too. I had a Yamaha Maxim 650 in my teens, and all I ever did was oil and filter changes, valve adjustments and tires and brakes. It was indestructable, until I laid it down on a curve and smoked the curb. Rode it trouble free for many thousands of kms, over the 5 years I had it.
It is sad, seeing as they were actually making money with the Buell line, it made no sense to get rid of them.
I've had the opportunity to ride all sorts myself, and have owned a couple dozen bikes including one Harley rat bike and several dirt bikes. I enjoyed them all, but the Harley was more fun in a way. The GSXR 750 I had was fun too, but not quite the same, so I sold it last year.
We have a very limited riding season here in northern Canada, so I've been looking at dual sports like the Triumph Tiger, KLX and even a BMW. The only thing is, I'd be tempted to put studded tires on it and ride it in the winter too.
It's all actually 1900's to 1920's technology, there's nothing "new", just refined, and that goes for all piston type internal combustion engines. The only thing that's sorta new is electronics, and even that's 30/40 years old already.
Have a look at the V Rod, and Buell bikes, they might change your mind on Harleys.
I like all sorts from all the different manufacturers, I'm not brand loyal in any sense, just disagree with the bashing of one particular brand because of the stigma associated with it.
RE: Now Palin is playing the race card.
Brainwashing...you just gotta love it.
