Hahaha, this is funny to me because this actually happened, but not with my sister. My cousin ended up marrying a guy I used to date. No problems with that on my end - I broke up with him - not my type. I was even the maid of honor at their wedding!

Here is what I do, no matter who the disagreement is with. I always try to keep my cool, and then I simply disagree. I 'try' not to get pissed off about it because I realize that everyone isn't always going to agree.
It does enter my mind regarding who the person is, absolutely. I think that people who are closer to me are bound to get more of a response from me, in comparison to a stranger.
