Isn't it interesting how someone who you thought you couldn't live without... who made you cry buckets of tears, just a few years ago can have no emotional effect on you when you run into them again?
I've run into several ex-boyfriends & old crushes. I just think it's so weird how, after that much time, I can look at them & either have no feeling for them or wonder what I ever saw in them in the first place.
Time does heal all wounds, as the saying goes. Ironically, several times, they've asked me to come back or to go out again. But the feeling just isn't there anymore. And I've gone as far as to say, "You hurt me. That can't be forgiven."
I'm on my lunch break right now & I ventured outside for some air. As I was standing there, I heard bagpipes start playing Amazing Grace (which happened to be my grandfather's favorite song). It dawned to me that I was standing next to a cemetary & there must be a funeral procession going on. It's a gray, cold, dismal day here.
An older gentleman, dressed in a tan blazer with suede elbow patches & khaki pants, with a blue beret (sp?) & big tortoise-shell glasses & a backpack on his back came up to me. He spoke with a British accent & asked me why in the world he hears the bagpipes playing Amazing Grace. I told him I would imagine it's for a funeral procession, to which he replied, "Ah yes! I forgot there's a cemetary over there."
We proceeded to talk for a few minutes & he was off. But in that short conversation, he paid me a very nice compliment. No, it had nothing to do with looks or anything like that. It was just a nice compliment telling me how gracious I was.
This just struck me as odd for some reason today... of all days.
No, luckily I didn't get her declawed. I have a problem with taking their first knuckle off... just bothers me, although I did do it to my last cat & he was fine. Now I'm glad I didn't do it yet.
Thank you all. My friend also suggested that I leave my sliding glass door open. The problem with that is that first, it's cold & my house would be freezing. Secondly, there are squirrels that run onto my patio. I'd hate to come home to find a couple of them running around in my house!
