If the woman I am dating is messier around the house than I am,(wet towels on the floor, top off the toothpaste, shoes all over the place...) then I am accused of being high-maintenance.....

Hey, it's called baggage.....we all carry some...unfortunately, it's never a good idea to be too compromising and selfless....if you spoil someone, they become.....well, spoilt. No surprise there. So there's this delicate balancing act between being loving, and not spoiling....it's like raising kids, in a way.....tough love...not too much, not too little...lol

Oh give me a break!!!!....I paid the swiss equivalent of $7.33 per gallon of gas today in Switzerland....so quit complaining....nobody changes a habit until you have to.....so now you guys have to.....buy a smaller car..it won't kill ya...
Very noble sentiments indeed. But the theme of the thread was "high-maintenance", which by definition means "higher-than-normal". I think that all of us would agree with your position on supporting a partner with needs, but I think what we are talking about here are EXCESSIVE needs...and unrealistic expectations, manipulation and so forth.....ask Portia...it's her thread....

Judy, you poor thing....excuse me for getting the impression that Gozitans could be a desperate lot....if that is the case, is it the lack of good company, or the limits of your geography??.....I am moving to Malta, and I hope the same malady will not afflict me...
I think the deciding factor in wether a man or a woman turns out to be a high-maintenance type of personality is to a large degree a factor of their childhood and upbringing....tell me what kinda childhood you had, and what types of men you go for, and I'll can make a good guess wether u are high-maintenance or not....
High-maintenance can be financial in nature...but what about those EMOTIONALLY high-maintenance women??....The first kind bust your wallet, but the second kind just plain wear you out.....
