Why do you need to apologise to that guy? If he lied to you, why is it you apologising?
By the way, does he realise that he lied over something? Tell him. Also, beware, that calling somebody a liar doesn't always go down very well in the long term.
Bagelo, I don't know who your friends are or what they are like, but there is a good chance that this ex of yours might have been telling them a few porkies about you.
Unfortunately, there is no way you can confirm this, as all of them will deny he's been telling them anything whatsoever (plus most people are -wisely enough- of the mentality of not getting involved with domestic arguments, physical or not)
