Last time I made this was in a 2kg batch, 25 people and they were all gone before they got cold. Even the kids were eating them and complaining that their lips were burning as they shoved another one in.
I am not a clumsy person but on one occasion whilst stripping an old car, the bonnet torsion rod let go and exploded into my skull right on the corner of my left eye. I now wear 2 scars above and beside my eye. This was a complete accident that could not have been predicted. I like to show these scars because an inch either way could have been disastrous to my sight or even fatal. I learned from this so these scars are great memories to reflect on.
3 long red chilli 1/2 cup sweet chilli sauce (recipe below) 3 limes fresh coriander 1 tablespoon sugar
finely chop chilli and coriander, juice limes. combine with sugar and chilli sauce and mix well
Place prawn meat in a snap-lock bag and add marinate. Eliminate air from bag and rub mix thoroughly to cover all prawns. Refrigerate for 1 hour, turning and mixing every 15 mins.
Cook on hot BBQ plate turning once until pink throughout.
Serve on a decorative plate as an entree. Using toothpicks to eat them.
Sweet chilli sauce
250g hot red chilli 3 cups white vinegar 3 cups caster sugar 1 clove garlic
place chilli in food processor with 1/4 cup vinegar, chop well heat vinegar and sugar and garlic until boiling. Add chilli mix and simmer until sauce thickens (45 mins average) stirring at regular intervals.
If you get to be my age and don't have any scars, you either do not take risks with life's challenges or you have possibly been wrapped in cotton wool for too long.
Scars are like a timeline to your memories. Never be ashamed of them.
Yes and no. Some of us, even at the point of divorce/separation, decide that it is better to allow the woman to dictate the terms just to keep the peace. I have done this twice now. I no longer have the greatest physical possessions or a large bank account but I can hold my head high due to the fact that I kept my separations civil.
I no longer communicate with my first wife, due to the way she disowned our children, but still have an acceptable friendship with my second wife, and I am still prepared to take the chance all over again.
I think most of all I miss the background noise. The conversations after a day at work, the playful banter and the funny little ways that loving couples tease and play together.
