The Kyoto Protocol entered into force on 16 February 2005.
Measures -- heavily dependent on teamwork and political will -- can slow the rate of global warming and help the world cope with the climate shifts that occur.
Reducing emissions. Burning oil and coal more efficiently, switching to renewable forms of energy, such as solar and wind power, and developing new technologies for industry and transport can attack the problem at the source.
Expanding forests. Trees remove carbon dioxide, the dominant greenhouse gas, from the atmosphere. The more we have, the better. But deforestation -- the current trend -- liberates additional carbon and makes global warming worse.
Changing lifestyles and rules. The cultures and habits of millions of people -- essentially, whether they waste energy or use it efficiently -- have a major impact on climate change. So do government policies and regulations.
Coping. Steps have to be taken -- and the sooner the better -- to limit damage from consequences of global warming that are now inevitable.
real bad weather in some parts of the States Posted: Sep 24, 2006 at 6:30 PM
Hello friends, I would like to sent my personal concern and regards to all the people hit by this bad weather and the floods..
On this occacion I would like to ask everyone in the States to sign up in programms against global warming. Its an issiue we all must be aware off. Mr. President Bush seems not to take the issue seriouse enough, even though Hurricanes and Tornados are getting ever more devastating. People dont wait act now for your own lifes - be aware we are one big global family !
The good old British Establishment, makes huge differences in ones spoken english the way you are able (or willing) to express yourself, the way you hold your conversation, clearly definates to which class you belong to ..
Do we need a European and a International Forum? I think we Europeans are the truly international ones ! Many of us speak several languages - all speak english ! Hey the name says clearly its international - WHY SEPARATE IN THE FIRST PLACE ??
I personally dont feel like being separated from the rest of the world.
"su media naranja" if it was in reference to "YOUR LIFE PARTNER" but it would be strange in a tax return ..lol It would be NOT UNUSUAL on a dating site someone looking for his "other half of orange" or a soul mate !

Do we perhaps expect too much from the ones we meet ? Or are we afraid to trust our own judgement - because it failed us before in life?
From my own experience in getting to know someone better, even in the direct "normal" way .. face to face, there is still a long way for knowing well the person behind and it needs a reasonable amount of time and effort to find out about each others way of life and the differences which might attract us in the moment, but might lead to incompatibilities in the long run..
But its true that distances we encounter, meeting people from around the world are discouraging many of us, even if flights are plenty at good prices available!
But if you dont "meet people" you will never know in either way, Right?
I loved popping in at coffee brakes - say hi.. read a bit - have a laugh and give a comment sometimes - now whats happening here in the EU formum is a neverending dead end..
