RE: Meet the right person.

I have stopped believing there is a 'right' person. In a relationship, it's up to both individuals concerned to make it 'right'. It's a give-and-take situation. Perhaps it is the relationship and not the person that is 'right' or 'wrong'. The 'right' relationship is where two parties are equally involved. The 'wrong' one is what I call a one-sided relationship and this is always doomed for failure. It's up to us to recognize the signs early and FLEE if this is the case!.. well that's what I think anyhow... Good luck...

Well SpiderMoose, for sure driving in Malta is not easy for foreigners. For one thing we drive on the right side of the road. I'm sure that can't be easy for anyone who is used differently. Also our roads must be TINY compared to other countries. This would take some getting used to. I do encourage you to visit Malta. It’s a charming and quirky kind of Island full of culture and History. People mostly either love it or hate it. It’s a long way from Canada so just look up as much info on the Island as you can before making up your mind. If you'd like to ask me anything please go ahead! I know that Maltese drivers have a bad reputation but your description is highly exaggerated SpiderMoose! ? When was the last time you were in Malta? Must be a very long time ago because things are not that drastic. I have lived here all my life and been a (safe) driver for over 20 years now and I personally have never seen anybody driving around a roundabout the wrong way! That would be far too dangerous in Malta with our tiny spaces. The other antics you describe are all highly exaggerated. You make it sound as though it is the norm for Maltese drivers to indulge in such bad driving but I can assure you this is not the case. You need to remember that we Maltese have tiny roads. Foe example, choosing lanes can be chaotic as there simply is not enough space to choose one's lane from a long distance ahead. Hence a lot of confusion at intersections and when it comes to choosing lanes. Sometimes we are forced to switch lane at the very last moment. Space is super limited so nothing can be done about that. On the whole, if one were to compare Malta's rate of Motor accidents and fatalities with the rest of Europe and other parts of the world, one would find that Malta does not rate that badly! However, on a different note, I will tell you of some REALLY annoying 'habits' of certain Maltese drivers. The first is that 'indicators' are sparsely used by quite a lot of drivers. You did mention this and I have to agree with you here. Big cars like busses and lorries always seem to demand the right of way. Some of them even carry silly signs like 'King of The Road'!! Buses are notorious for pulling out of bus stops without signalling first. Young drivers like to speed, and drive with loud music. Also a lot of drivers answer their mobile calls whilst driving and some of them text too! Honking horns is quite popular and so is driving slowly on the so called 'fast' lane...Of course, we don't have motorways here although some young drivers seem to think that our main roads qualify as motorways! Well, yes Maltese driving is not great, but on the whole things have improved. Some of these improvements are that nowadays driving round roundabouts is more disciplined. People do give right of way. Stop signs are mostly adhered to. Honestly! So are traffic lights, pedestrian crossings and traffic lights. Hopefully things will continue to improve..

Gosh Jan...that is so close to my own last relationship. That was six years ago and its left some scars....Still, because of that I now have the experience to help me to hesitate the next time I may meet a similar 'type'... The downside is: it's so hard to trust again!!!

Well Smoky, I guess you're right.,..still it kinda sucks!!!! I always say to myself..’bettter luck next year’..but so far it hasn't happened. Then I say to myself 'you're healthy, you're fit, your kids are too, you're not dying of hunger, you have a roof over your head etc etc...and it starts to suck less and less... So here's wishing one and all a Happy New Year...whether I celebrate it or not! It would have been nice to have you Smoky.... Ah but Smoky will be with me anyway....We'll probably be cuddled up in bed keeping each other warm. Hey what are you thinking folks? Smoky is my dark grey, lovable and adorable cat and I love him to bits! Really

I think you're right about that Jan. The irony is, people such as you mention are paradoxically so often charming and 'nice' it would be easy to be attracted to them.

wow :) What about lady celebs? Mine are Gwynneth Paltrow and Nicole Kidman. I consider them cool and sophisticated...and great at what they do.
