RE: Who is your favorite Irish person?

On a more serious note,Ireland has produced some of the greatest writers of our time.So I would have to say:

George Bernard Shaw
Oscar Wilde
James Joyce

More recently Joseph O'Connor a brilliant writer.handshake

RE: Who is your favorite Irish person?

Mrs. Brown and her family.rolling on the floor laughing

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

Am I missing something here. I never mentioned Tories in my last post.

Just mentioned your user name!rolling on the floor laughing

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

Give it time True and the referendum will follow,as people in this country are heartily sick of being dictated to by the Germans basically.

We put more in than we ever get out that's for sure.

[Waits for Obs to come along with his take on thingslaugh ]

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

I agree dams, but I also wonder who they would throw their hat in with if it was down to the wire.

I think people will vote for the devil they know ,rather than the devil they are unsure of, and that might just be the Tory's.handshake

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

Agreed Rizalred, but it's a fine line ,and probably why they want to be rid of the EU so we are free to make our own choices.

I still don't think that they as a party are strong enough to sweep the board in a General Election,so we are still going to be in a no win situation.handshake

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

The first election is For the European Parliament, and I've no doubt they may trounce the Tory's,Lib Dems, and Labour.

What they probably won't do is win a general Election outright, and we will then find that people will vote Tory rather than allow Labour back into the fold.

UKIP has some fine ideas in principle, but getting rid of immigration per say will put a great strain on our Public services, such as Hospitals etc who employ a lot of foreign labour, and who contribute to the coffers.

There is a fine line between what people want, and what is actually practical.handshake

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

I like the sound of that.

Have a good weekend Kid. Hope you are feeling more at home now you are settling in.wink

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

Stop playing games Chris. You know exactly what I meant.

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

Now where in my post did I mention the Commonwealth!

I distinctly said the UK.

How others perceive her is an entirely different matter.
handshake

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

Morning Kid. Sad to say that Governments have such control over our rights.

What makes me even more angry is the profits that are made from these utilities.very mad

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

Don't they just. Sometimes the wheels fall off.laugh

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

You mock it all the time with your constant jibes at Prince Philip and the Queen.

scold

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

He was a mere 23 years of age when he became King. Probably had some bad advice from his Ministers.laugh

You keep blaming him for your state of affairs, yet he hasn't been in the country for 41 years. Your own elected politicians have ripped the guts out of Greece so live with it.

We in the UK are proud of our heritage, and we certainly aren't on our knees yet, whatever your opinion might be.

Get real will you. scold

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

Morning Tom.

Don't you get sick of people who continually mock our way of life!

They need to put their own house of cards in order first.handshake

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

Well he's back now ,so get used to it, and live with the fact that your own Government ,and the corruption therein, is responsible for the mess your country is now in,not Royalty.

Your own people in places of trust have been fleecing you for years.

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

Phew that's a lot of hot air just to say that the Monarchy is dead ,long live corruption.

We as Brits love and respect our Walt Disney culture. She is a respected Head of State not a politician.handshake

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

Where in my post does it say Constantine was coming back as Kingconfused

You stated that he had left the country with all his money and wealth. He didn't, the Government stole it from him ,and that is why he had monies paid back in compensation, which he then gave to the Greek people.

Please read up on your own history, and stop making up your own version of events.

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

Pressed the wrong emote.

Should have been this one.wink

RE: A heredity head of state or an elected one.???

It also breeds contempt, especially among elected politicians.blushing

RE: What do you expect for?

Personally speaking I have no expectations as such. We might hope to achieve something which is beyond our ,or others ,expectations , and this can lead to stress in my opinion.

In the simplicity of accepting something—including oneself—as it is, there is a release of the need to be something "better." This is not to say that you lose ambition or desire to help oneself, others, or the world at large, but that the efforts to do so no longer carry a striving or "must-ness" quality to them.

I "hope" is more a word that I choose to use ,and a respect for others who at least make an effort. Going for Gold and accepting Bronze is in itself an achievement. For me it's not the winning as much as the taking part in all aspects of my life. handshake

RE: Is George Clooney right????

Yes we know.doh Unfortunately you use it at every opportunity to ram it down people's throats, just because he was part of the Greek Royal family ,which is another thorn in your side.

Give it a rest.sigh

RE: Is it wrong to not want to have children?

It's a choice that people have,or in some cases, not when an unwanted birth arises!

It's not like picking the family pet, though lately I begin to wonder about some parents and their attitude to their offspring.sigh

RE: Would a world without religion be a better place???

Well it might in Arizona where they are about to vote on SB1062 regarding gay people.very mad
