LIZZIE BORDEN....

GREAT POST RO.. The murders you are referring to while Lizzie was in jail could not have been tied to the Borden murders. The man convicted in those murders arrived in the U.S. AFTER the Borden murders, but before Lizzies trial. BUT KEEP DIGGING!! I've got your interest.

LIZZIE BORDEN....

SAD to say it was ALL HOLLYOOD. Made in the same vein as the old Elizabeth Montgomery/Lizzie Borden movie. Mostly myth. THX for the post and keep in touch.

LIZZIE BORDEN....

Sad to say but the movie, to me, was a TOTAL bust. NO John Morris, burning the dress in the yard IN HER UNDERWEAR, etc. Isn't Hollywood great?? lol

LIZZIE BORDEN....

GREAT POST... Sorry I'm running behind on responses. Druggist Eli Bence was prepared to testify that the day before the murders Lizzie attempted to purchase 10 cents worth of prussic acid, she said, to clean her seal skin capes. He refused to sell it without a Drs. script. His testimony was not allowed at trial. Pull up her inquest testimony and read it. It is very long but is filled with inconsistences. Sad to say, it wasn't allowed at the trial also.

LIZZIE BORDEN....

Understood. Lizzie did say that Abby told her that she got a note from a sick friend and was going out. NO note was ever found and NO sick friend ever turned up that said they sent for Abby. So there was SOME conversation between the two. BTW it was Dr. Bowen, not Dr. Dolan.

LIZZIE BORDEN....

Puzzle #2: When Mrs. Churchill, Dr. Dolan, and Bridget were with Lizzie right after the murders she ask if someone would go upstairs and look for Mrs. Borden, as she thought she had heard her come in. Lizzie had just screamed to Bridget up in her room ON THE THIRD FLOOR.. "Maggie, come quick, someone has come in and killed father". If Mrs. Borden was in her SECOND FLOOR ROOM, ALIVE, she would have heard Lizzie call for Bridget AND COME RUNNING. Lizzie KNEW Abby was DEAD in the second floor guest room.

LIZZIE BORDEN....

One thing that troubles me most is when she came in the house and discovered her dead father WHY DID SHE REMAIN IN THE HOUSE? She sent the maid for help and remained inside the door till someone arrived. She HAD to have known that there was no murderer in the house.
Waiting on that new movie. THX rohaan for that posting.

LIZZIE BORDEN....

Please forgive me... I surely will remain open minded. Will you please point me to where you read where she supposedly stole an axe/hatchet? Again I am sorry for coming across that way. TY

LIZZIE BORDEN....

NO ONE testified at the preliminary hearing or the trail that Lizzie bought or swiped a hatchet or an axe from their store. The movie with Elizabeth Montgomery was pure Hollywood, as is the new one with Ms. Rice.

LIZZIE BORDEN....

Her step mother received 19... her father 11...

I can find no evidence of her purchasing a new axe. The murder weapon was supposedly a hatchet. There was a NEW hatchet found on a neighbors (John Crowe) barn roof, 8 mths. after the murders. This hatchet was later claimed by a worker. I have doubts to this belonging to the worker as he was working on ANOTHER roof, NOT JOHN CROWES. If you lose your hatchet wouldn't you go to the last place you had it? NOT 8 mths. later?? I believe someone (LIZZIE??) paid him to lay claim to it. The Crowe property bordered the Bordens back yard. Lizzie was spotted coming from that area that morning. I believe this hatchet to have killed Abby. I think the hatchet with the broken handle, found in the cellar, killed Andrew. The dress she burned was said to have been covered in paint. I say it was covered in blood. I think the 12 male jurors could not bring themselves to believe a woman could commit such a horrible double murder. So much was not allowed to be heard at the trail... Her preliminary testimony (full of contradictions) wasn't allowed.. her attempt to purchase prussic acid the day before was tossed out etc.

LIZZIE BORDEN....

Yes... one in the '70s starring Liz Montgomery (of Bewitched fame) & a new one just released starring Ms. Rice. Sadly, neither one is based on "facts".

LIZZIE BORDEN....

There was no butler, but the servant girl, Bridgett Sullivan, was there when both murders were committed.

LIZZIE BORDEN....

Actually it was a hatchet, NOT an axe.

LIZZIE BORDEN....

After spending 10 months in jail, it took the jury just over an hour to acquit her.

Looking for someone interested in the Lizzie Borden case. I have studied this case for close to 10 yrs. I have my own thoughts but would love to hear yours. THX
