I am not your match, I just love good movies. I have also seen all the movies you have mentioned and they are good but don't forget Lawrence of Arabia. Stunning cinematography and as for the music amazing.
A matter of life and death is a great movie and it's hard to believe that it's 61 years old. This is one of David Niven's greatest ever movies. It's also one of Martin Scorsese's favourite movies.
Returning to England from a bombing run in May 1945, flyer Peter Carter's plane is damaged and his parachute ripped to shreds. He has his crew bail out safely, but figures it is curtains for himself. He gets on the radio, and talks to June, a young American woman working for the RAF, and they are quite moved by each other's voices. Then he jumps, preferring this to burning up with his plane. He wakes up in the surf. It was his time to die, but there was a mixup in heaven. They couldn't find him in all that fog. By the time his "Conductor" catches up with him 20 hours later, Peter and June have met and fallen in love. This changes everything, and since it happened through no fault of his own, Peter figures that heaven owes him a second chance. Heaven agrees to a trial to decide his fate.
Oh I also forgot that I write poetry in my spare time. Sadly not as much as I used to but I love doing it when I get a chance and I have had a few published
Gilly I love the arts and love going to see plays and musicals. I also like going to visit art galleries.
Opera is good but as I can't see Italian it can be hard to follow at times. Ballet is great and some of the greatest classical music was written for ballet, and a good example of this is Swan Lake.
No it's your guardian angel. I know mine has helped me. I have had a few incidents when I am lucky enough to have only minor injuries. Both of them changed my outlook on life.
I agree with Lorraine as regards Northern Ireland. The day after Bloody Sunday the IRA got so many new recruits. If we kill these people in Guantanamo Bay they will become Martrys and there will be so many new recruits to Al Queda etc just like how how the IRA got loads after Bloody Sunday.
