I'll be back tomorrow...I expect a long list....laugh laugh

RE: Miss Streep- lose some weight ....learn how to act......stay out of politics

"Appeals to Ridicule" are also very lazy argumentative methods...laugh

RE: Miss Streep- lose some weight ....learn how to act......stay out of politics

That's not an answer....that's answering a question with a question...laugh

RE: Miss Streep- lose some weight ....learn how to act......stay out of politics

I don't let that nonsense bother me too much. He was looking for a reaction. You can't debate with people like that. I've tried it on here. But, I still think that the left really have to re-group and understand why the people voted the way they did. And if they do, they will find that it was a very small minority who voted on race or gender lines. The majority voted on party and economic lines...

RE: Crumbling Promises: LOL....This doesn’t sound like Trump's campaign promise??

Problem with payment by tariffs is that tariffs will be a two way process. US goods exports to Mexico are around 270 billion each year. The US has a goods deficit but a services surplus. An overall deficit of about 30 billion is all.

Tariff Mexican imports and they will tariff US exports. So it goes...
Similar with China too...

RE: The people has spoken, Trump our new Leader, Part 2

Steve Mnuchin..Goldman Sachs banker from a family of Goldman Sachs Bankers...close friend and business partner of George Soros...Soros donated money to the Clinton campaign and was also one of the chief architects behind Mnuchin's accent on Wall Street....Munchin, Treasury secretary for Trump-donated money to both the Clinton and Trump campaigns,,,,laugh

These people don't back losers...simply because they back everyone...laugh But the saddos believe that a Trump win means a loss for them....rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

RE: The people has spoken, Trump our new Leader, Part 2

Still on about Soros....laugh laugh Uneducated rabble///

RE: The people has spoken, Trump our new Leader, Part 2

No need for that. California are looking to set up a vote in 2018 to secede from the Union. From a constitutional standpoint, this is extremely difficult to happen....But that won't be allowed to happen....America becomes nothing without the big States...laugh

RE: The people has spoken, Trump our new Leader, Part 2

And California is the largest economy in the US...the state which leads the world in technology...laugh

RE: The people has spoken, Trump our new Leader, Part 2

Bush's foreign policy was pretty awful too....

What has the economic relations of the US with the rest of the world have to do with your 19 trillion deficit? I've an idea...stop consuming so much...

Medtronic did move to Ireland...in 1999. They have quite a big facility here and invest quite a bit here too. Lots of reasons for this. I could go through them but many would go over your head.

It depends on whether it makes business sense. Also, the problem you have with this line of thinking is this...the jobs that shift overseas and away from developed economies are extremely labour intensive. It would be nice if capital intensive and technology intensive jobs took their place. Automation is an issue here, not trade. Also, the need to reinvigorate the areas damaged by trade and to reskill people in the higher technically advanced jobs is important. But that will require a transfer of wealth from the winners of trade to the losers...Lets see how Trump does that....

RE: Trump meeting with Romney

The "bankrupt America" idea is nonsense. It is generally floated by deficit hawks in the Republican party. The debt is not a major issue in America. Using deficits properly is though. One of Trump's major battles will be to convince certain Republicans in Congress to go along with his expansionary policy. Deficits and debt will increase.

People argue that Obama added a huge amount of debt to the US. However, much of the debt added was cyclical. The automatic stabilisers in the economy were just working as they should. In Trump's case, he needs the Republican hawks to sign off on more spending. That will be challenge....

RE: The People Has Spoken: Trump our new Leader

How do you feel about Trump not "locking up" Killary or Obama Bun Ladin??

RE: The People Has Spoken: Trump our new Leader

Most people did't even know it went on over here...laugh Once a petition was signed by a certain amount of people, it gets debated. That's all. Parliment never banned him. It was over in a day...laugh

RE: The People Has Spoken: Trump our new Leader

No-one banned him....

RE: Let's make America Great Again

Lock Her Up....another promise that seems to be gone out the window...laugh laugh

I bet some people are beginning to feel like they may have been had a little...laugh laugh

RE: The People Has Spoken: Trump our new Leader

From what I remember, a debate happened in the UK parliment about banning Trump because a petition gained over 500,000 signitures. He also wasn't banned.

I like Farage but he has no real power over policy in the UK government and will soon lose his job in the EU. He has just turned into an opportunist really...laugh

RE: The People Has Spoken: Trump our new Leader

Come on...give up with the talk that Soros is paying people because they have different views. You lose all credibility by saying this...laugh

RE: The People Has Spoken: Trump our new Leader

,
The right to vote implicitly includes the right not to vote. Voting/Not Voting does not highlight respect/contempt of the democratic system, as you suggest, although that may be the reason for not voting. Choosing not to vote also does not restrict the right to speak or express frustration in the system

This is only a half truth. Trump has helped to drive further division in the US.

Don't get carried away with yourself there....

Not going to happen. You reap what you sow. Although Republicans will not need democratic support to pass much of their agenda, the only things that will really remain acceptable are the ones that gain bipartisan support, as Obama will find out. The divisions will remain and have deepened...laugh

RE: Let's make America Great Again

Depends on what he promised...Informed consent as a central part of democracy requires that promises are kept. If the promises are not kept, technically, it reduces the power that the people have invested in him. It kinda makes a mockery of the democratic process.

And the major issue in Trump's case was that he promised to be a president of the people and to clear out Washington and the old order. By not keeping his promises,he just becomes more of the same. And that is my core argument. Trump is just a continuation of the same...

RE: The People Has Spoken: Trump our new Leader

This was a reply to YouMeUs

RE: The People Has Spoken: Trump our new Leader

Oh that's OK so...the President-Elect of the US can be childish on Twitter because lots of people are childish on Twitter...that tells me....laugh

RE: Let's make America Great Again

"The Donald" has settled the case related to Trump University. During the election, he promised that he would never settle the case as it was easy to win stating "I win in court".

If he keeps going at this pace, there will be no promises left...laugh

RE: Let's make America Great Again

1. People are not mind readers.

2. The idea that the Trump election is only an issue for American people portrays an ignorance of US domestic and foreign policy in the 20th century. Using this excuse to shut down debate put you firmly in line with the "Libtard" movement some posters on here despise.

3. You have been asked to define "Great"...Does this greatness involve the US meddling in overseas affairs?

RE: Let's make America Great Again

Ironically, Trump is not really what you would call a Republican, from an economics perspective anyway. The unfortunate thing for Trump though is that he could actually enact many good policies as President but the economy could turn against him. My opinion would be that the FED have being too cautious in normalizing interest rates so far, due to the lack of proper fiscal policy. Loose monetary policy is risky at unemployment levels close to 5%. Along with the expected increase in fiscal policy expected, I think we will see short term gains. But history will tell us that this is followed by longer term substantial and prolonged increases in unemployment...If Trump navigates the next 4 year with consistent 3% growth, moderate inflation, and full employment, I will take my hat off to him...

And all of this is not even considering a major slowdown in China, which i think is on its way soon too. ..The Chinese Minsky Moment.......laugh

RE: The People Has Spoken: Trump our new Leader

There are more than two simple views in the world. It's not just Killary vs Trump.
If you looked at my previous posts, you will see that I agree with some of what Trump said he will do. However, I have pointed out inconsistencies and areas he seems to be backtracking on.

I will give you a little lesson. You, and some of the others who follow all Trump's promises blindly(even though some policies are completely at odds with each other), are really no different than those you would consider part of the "Libtard" or "Killiary" movement. Some of those liberals push nonsense concepts like "safe-spaces", "no platform", and "trigger warning" ideas onto the rest of the population. They kill debate. They don't want to be challenged. Under no circumstances will they consider the other viewpoint. They will stick together and support each other, no matter how ridiculous the other person might be. They are a collective with a great fear of life. There is only one absolute truth of the world.

Your grouping is not any better. Ye will accept and won't criticise any Trump supporter or policy, regardless of how ridiculous they are. The grouping following Trump is also a collective, although they pretend that the individual is the most powerful person in society. Although, they don't have labels like "safe-spaces" and nonsense like that, their actions highlight that they do act in a collective which is fundamentally their implicit safe-space. They attempt to shut down debate, use government to protect their viewpoints, and also have a great, irrational fear of life. There is also only one absolute truth of the world.

When someone like me comes along, who has different viewpoints along many different topics, who likes to be challenged and can change my views due to debate, it confuses the "Libtards" and the "Trumpets". Some of my beliefs marry with Trump, some with "Killary", some with neither. They can change and evolve. I find that both of these groupings initial reaction to me, if I disagree with their view on a topic, is to accuse me of being part of the other group and attempt to shut down debate.

I simply can think for myself and know my own mind. You should try it sometime...laugh laugh

RE: what truly turns you off

George Soros pays really well,...laugh laugh

RE: The People Has Spoken: Trump our new Leader

The truth??laugh laugh laugh OK...

I called you a nut job. One reason is that you seem to think that anyone who has a different view to you is a follower of "Killary" and "Obama bum Laden" and is being paid by George Soros and the "New World Order" to come onto a dating site to spread untruths and try to trick Trump supporters...That's pretty nuts to me...laugh

"Using name calling to sort out differences in views"....Trump comes to mind here...laugh

Me..a Lefty?? Not sure where you get that from...laugh

RE: Let's make America Great Again

Janet Yellen does not give a toss about Donald Trump....laugh The Federal Reserve is an independent organisation with a simple mandate. A debate on the level of independence and the structure of the mandate has been going on for years. Economists and politicians from both the right and the left have been arguing about the system of money creation and monetary control in the US since the 1900's. In fact, the Chicago Plan, which was drafted by some of most right wing establishment economists ever to grace the US, advocated a complete return of money creation powers back to the government and away from private banks.

It won't happen though. Jellen knows it, the government know it, and Trump will find out soon. And even if that did happen, Jellen wouldn't really care either. She would probably, with he experience in monetary affairs, be central to the creation of the new system.

The Paris agreement on climate change will go ahead. The US may pull out but it goes ahead. Having one of the world's largest polluters and economies as a freerider will make it more difficult, as the US will benefit in the short-term but the long term benefits, business wise, will go to the countries involved in it. With a US withdrawal, leadership of the process, and all the benefits that this leadership will convey, shifts to China and Europe.

RE: Let's make America Great Again

As above, define great.....laugh
