One of the main problems here that is going to make felt rapidly, is the lack of infrastructure.
For example we are second from the bottom in Europe with Broadband. The present solution is for Eircom to make Broadband available to 70% of the country at a speed of 25Mbps within 7 years.
This could have been made available years ago and going by past records will never come in on time, So we are probably looking at 10+ yrs to get a speed that by then will be 10 years out of date.
This lack of planning and vision have will cripple the economy of this country.
I for one need access to high speed broadband - I will have to relocate in the next 12 months. Decisions, Decisions, Dublin, Berlin or Barcelona. I can have better facilities in any other country and better studio facilities for a lot less money.
I have tried a similar post before on the Irish forum, and got pretty much the same response you are getting here, which is very little.
It is disappointing that here, Irish people have little or no interest in discussing anything about Ireland, and the problems endemic here.
There is a lot of negative aspects to this country and they have been here for quite some time, but were not as obvious then, as there was, in fairness a lot of other issues to be dealt with.
It seems that we have become a people who look at our country through rose coloured glasses and refuse to see the realities that confront us. This will lead to this country trailing behind every other European country on almost every level within another decade.
It is good to see that you are thinking about it and I hope that you are indicative of a new trend in this country.
Hi Cathy, They were actually banned! and Kitty of all people. The pics were taken down as well. Seems a bit childish on a site where you have to be 18+
There's aband playing here tonight and they are called the CSers that stands for AAAhhhhhh, MMMmmmmmm better not say.
Oslojente and Kitty have been banned for putting up pics of things resembling penises! I saw the pics and they were not offensive at all. What do ye think!
From what I have been reading Vonney it seems the Male side of the family is exactly where it comes from, not that it matters in the least. It is the child that matters.
His hearing is fine right now Vonney but his Care-worker (Friend and neighbor) says that later on his hearing may diminish but there are ways to deal with that.
Airfix models and sewing MMMmmmmmm (just thinking)
This is quite a different one Vonney. The disability was caused by a virus we all carry normally but the Mom was affected by it in the late stages of pregnancy and the result is a 12 yo boy, Niall, who is blind Dumb, and in a wheelchair, His only method of communication is to beat himself on the chest.
I am trying to see if it is possible to build or somehow get an interface that he could wear on his chest that would be wired to a computer and when he strikes his chest the computer will speak a word depending on where he hits his chest.
Sorry for all the questions Vonny, but occasionally in life I have been asked to help different people with learning problems where they showed an unusually high interest in Fine Art and found it to work extremely well in some cases. I have been googling Aspergers like mad since you mentioned it.
Am working on something else at moment for a severely handicapped boy of 12 so was kinda in work mode.
Just tell him to sign the damm paper, that's a power thing. A friend was in same situation and there is a way without his approval. What's your daughters learning disability?
I came across this today and I got a pain laughing at it and I really felt for the writer.
This I think is the difference in understanding and not. It takes us guys a while to understand some things about women and we need explanations as well. This is superb.
I can agree with that, and so do men, but I think there has been a lot of pressure on men to understand women since the 70's and I think most men have really tried. on the other hand I do come across a lot of women who really do not have a clue about men.
RE: How do you rate Ireland?
