RE: forum help

Yeah, i agree. Get rid of him. No-one wants an arsehole. They're usually full of s**t, blowing out hot air and need constant cleaning and scratching. Just one big wide smooth bumcheeck will be way more practical. You'll never look back.......

While you are sleeping....

This world when most others sleep is where i have lived most of my life. I seem to belong more in it than the shiny and manic world under the blue sky. T'is bittersweet. T'is mostly all i know.

While you are sleeping....

Late at night, when no-one is posting here, when all the world's asleep....in the darkest dark and quietest quiet, there is another world, a secret, silent world. Scattered here and there are the unseen, the un-noticed, who, between them, are entrusted with the task of steering the great ship through the night.

They are a diverse bunch, though they rarely encounter one another. Ultimately, they share one thing....they cannot sleep at night, and even those who are afraid of it learn to embrace it, for it can be better to be with it and know what is happening rather than to sleep and to not know what it may be planning.

In the silence and the darkness, there can be illumination. Thoughts and emotions, while not always easy or beautiful, are ultra-present, they cannot be denied or diminished by the clatter and business of everyday life. These things loom larger than life itself and will not be ignored. They force people in the night to confront, accept, sometimes battle, sometimes surrender. Ultimately, they envelop, fully. But in dealing with these things, fear slowly turns to understanding or at least acceptance, and with that comes a form of peace. Time takes on a new dimension, and the quality of the moments is supreme, devoid of the myriad distractions of daylight life.

There is a greater clarity, serenity and sense of calm. The mind moves into another way of functioning altogether. There is, of course, a great loneliness. But the loneliness is revealed at it's greatest, and therefore the loneliness itself becomes vulnerable. In a way, it becomes one's constant comapnion. One makes a certain peace with it, and learns to understand it's mechanisms, and how these mechanisms play into the human soul.

At this time of year, it is like the calm before the storm. In the weeks to come, there will be many people killed on the roads, many people who have lost a friend or family member. The nights will be filled with newcomers and their dreadful grief.

Many nights spent walking the streets, looking at the houses wherein people sleep by night and spend the daylight hours trying to define themselves by their actions, households that will have their dynamics changed. Sometimes permanently. Most are gearing up for joyous times of some sort, some are wrenched by tension and need. All this and more can be seen and sensed more clearly at night than by daylight. These are the brief hours of some respite for the most, and the long hours of knowing for the few.

While you are sleeping, there are those entrusted with the soul of the night. You may never see them, but try standing somewhere remote and alone in the still of night, and stop everything you know for a moment.....you may just sense this other world.

It all happens.....while you are sleeping.

RE: List of places to meet people!

(or doing vegetables, for that matter?)

RE: List of places to meet people!

Am i the only person here who isn't either imbibing alcohol or doing drugs?

RE: anyone having problems

i respect your opinion. many may not even go that far though....

RE: List of places to meet people!

this thread cheers me up, now i don't feel like i'm the one who drags things down. pity any poor newcomer who stumbles by here, unless you specifically want people with phallic vegetable fixations.

RE: List of places to meet people!

Not biting what exactly? Vegies?.......

RE: List of places to meet people!

At first i thought this was a thread about where to meet people, then it seemed to be about where to meet vegetables. Possibly they are one and the same? I dunno, i find it confusing, and for someone as confused as me to be confused, that's really saying something.

My contribution to the original theme is ..."There. Over there". That's where you can meet people. Possibly some of them may even be interested in meeting you, too, though don't get your hopes up if they're anywhere near a fruit and vegie shop.

RE: Poems from the dump

I've got two legs
they reach the gound
and when i move them
they walk around
and when i lift them
they climb up stairs
and when i shave them
they ain't got hairs.

Not mine, that one, but it has guided me through some of my darker times.

more relevant, though, is this one, not mine either but it's a goody...

My heat is warm with the friends i make
and better i won't be knowing
but there isn't a train i wouldn't take
no matter where it's going.

thank you.

RE: Poems from the dump

right....now....let's get serious.....ready ????

( notice how i politely give everybody time to run away......)

Anyone going to see BJORK? (BDO or Opera House)

Is anyone going to see Bjork in January, at any of the Big Day Out shows or the Opera House forecourt (Sydney)?

I'm going to the Opera House show on Jan. 23 and then scurry back to Melbourne for the Big Day Out appearance at Flemington Raceway on the 28th. I have to admit, I be too old to hang out at the BDO all day getting my tiny brain baked out in the heat, i'm planning on getting there later on and only seeing Bjork's performance, then getting out of there. But the Opera House show is just her (well, posibly a support act i imagine) and seats are limited to 5,000.

So....anyone else going to any of her shows ??

RE: anyone having problems

superb and scintillating repartee, that. ya gotta love it when someone actually takes the time to state the bleedin' obvious. with such affection for language, too.

Anyone going to see THE DIVINYLS ?

So....it seems the brooms do double duty as transport and also as meat tenderisers? Trembling here in the half-light under the desk, i realise not since the Muppet Show, with the strangely alluring yet violent Miss Piggy, have i known such curious allure....charming women who could fly in through the window on a broom and belt the bejabbers out of a lowly fellow....

RE: anyone having problems

No, i'm not having any of the problems mentioned in the opening post.

Why not? Am i not good enough? ....sigh...

Anyone going to see THE DIVINYLS ?

...(dives underneath desk, hands over head....).....

Anyone going to see THE DIVINYLS ?

Ahh, Zell....attractive, clever, witty and curiously violent.....i fink i'm in lerve, hehheeeheeeheeee.......

Anyone going to see THE DIVINYLS ?

\
No, you ain't a sad-sack, Lou...

meantime, i have to go into the deep forrest to scavenge for lizards, newts, bats and all the other bits and pieces i'll need to have on hand to provide good hospitality and a welcoming environment for the impending possible arrival of the two witchey-poo broomstick ladies.

(I am just reminded of a funny story....i once went to visit my friend Terrance, and found him in his shed, repairing a broom. We chatted while he effected the repair, then i followed him into the house, where we went to the kitchen and found his partner Rebecca. Terrance handed her the broom, and said..."there you are, it should be good for another 1500 flights..." ........i cracked up....).

well, i better get outside and mow the landing strip......

Anyone going to see THE DIVINYLS ?

Oh, sigh.....such a shame....they are only doing a few dates, capital cities, here in Melb. on the 15th, not sure of Sydney date, you can check their site. I believe they are going to do an album, which would mean they would tour more extensively next year, but now with Chrissy coming out with the news of her having MS....i dunno....maybe by next year touring could be more difficult, she did say tonight on tv something about her legs not being so good....

so you never know.....i do whatever it takes to see people i like, cos you just never know if there'll be another chance.....

life is hard.....but it only happens once.....

Anyone going to see THE DIVINYLS ?

Not too late Lou, i think tickets are still available.....

Anyone going to see THE DIVINYLS ?

Wow, i never expected any responses at all here, now 2 people planning on coming over on their broomsticks....i'm overawed!

The Divinyls were a huge act here throughout the 80's and as we moved into the 90's, they became big in the US, with a particular song called 'I Touch Myself', which also featured in a big US movie at the time, possibly 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer', though i think around that time their music appeared in a few big US films.

Singer Chrissie Amphlett has, in more recent times, appeared as Judy Garland in the Australian musical 'The Boy From Oz', to great acclaim, her voice and persona really suit the role. I haven't seen the show, but i did see her ome years ago perform one of the songs from the show on television, and she was perfect for the role, the sense of tragedy in the vocal delivery.

The Divinyls have a great back-catalogue of songs, esp. the earlier stuff, like 'Boys In Town', 'Make You Happy', 'Science Fiction", 'Pleasure And Pain'....the list goes on.

I saw the band quite a few times (they haven't played any gigs for a decade or more) and they were always great.

So yes, fly on over...and hey....stick around for a little while afterwards and come and see Bjork too....now she is going to be something else !! Besides....i'm going to all these shows by myself...be great to have the company .....if you can get here, i can provide accomodation, food, etc...Melbourne (and myself) are Anglo- and witch-friendly...

(sighs and stares out of the window into the night sky......)

Anyone going to see THE DIVINYLS ?

Is anyone going to see the Divinyls during the next few weeks?

I just saw the interview with Chrissie Amphlett on 'A Current Affair' (which is a programme i never normally watch) and was quite stunned to hear that she has MS, and to hear her talk about it.

As a long-time Divinyls fan I have been looking forward to their gig here in Melbourne since getting a ticket the moment they went on sale, and now i am wondering whether I'd prefer to be seeing them *knowing* Chrissie has MS or not knowing. She is a trooper and will no doubt only be focused on the music, but it is probably going to add some other dimension to the way the audience takes things in.

(Just for the record, I have always liked the Divinyls for the music, the songs, the playing and Chrissie's lyrics aand voice. Her image, to me, was never necessary, i would love them just as much if she always wore a Bhurka).

So...anyone going to see them?
