Well, can't relate to this one in general, but I am aware of the fact that alot of employers do indeed employ utter monkey's with no lack of their trade what so ever.
A while back, I had a Nokia 6230i, and I wanted an MMC (Multimedia Memory Card)
(There's MMC, Transflash, RS-MMC, etc, etc,)
So I went into carphone warehouse, thinking they'd have one in stock, but there weren't any on show. So I asked, and at first, they weren't aware of what one was!!!
It wasn't until I showed them one that I had, that didn't work, which led to a response from a young teen girl that was along the lines of "Nah we don't do um, we do do um but they're 50 quid".
Lack of trades, and bombarding customers as soon as they walk through the door, summarises it all.
How many of you, would want to be bombarded as soon as you entered the shop, with "Can I help?" How about, can you read my mind, do you know what I'd like, because I don't.
Whatever happened to a general perusal, without feeling rushed, or gawped upon?
It's all very well saying that you have issues with today's youngsters, having no direction in their life, and mentioning about having to bring in other people to do jobs that they could do, which is all very well, but that's not the full picture.
1. Often employees see migrant workers as cheap labour, and their wages do not equate to that of our minimum wage. Migrant workers are so willing to work for a low wage, as it's often alot greater than back home in their native parts.
2. Secondly, I was subject, to starting a new job, on the 16 of October, last year. The job description was permanent, as on the description, and contract.
I started a day after my now, but not then, friend. A few weeks later, they employed a migrant worker. 3rd of January, we were both called into the office, and was subject to being made redundant. But, the migrant worker remains.
I'm young, and so was my friend. We were willing to work, and worked hard.
Does that sound like I'm one of the youngsters today with no direction?
I'm now working a job with higher pay, £6.20 per hour, and my line of work ensures I shouldn't be replaced.
