Where I grew up the cops would have told us to keep an eye out for any kids setting off fireworks and if we see them tell them to stop. They usually had a lot more real crime to deal with...
The Edgemere projects in Rockaway. We moved out in 1969. By the mid 70's they were considered the worst projects in all of NYC. They were even worse than the ones in Bedford Stuyvesant, East New York, and Bushwick.
