RE: Women are so selfish nowadays.

If you men keep giving women here these clues (ie. things that annoys the hell out men), I can bet you a million $ that they (women) will only make it worse for us women by "improving their tactics even further"doh rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Does God think Christmas is overated and become too commerical?

Ho, Ho, Ho, kaybee50...merry christmaslaugh

RE: Does God think Christmas is overated and become too commerical?

Not sure what God thinks sirLarry, but i don't really think christmas is overrated. Rather, i find it very "artificial" even though i really appreciate the "spirit" behind Christmas. However, i am not sure if Jesus (peace be upon Him) was really born on December 25 as there is no historic evidence to confirm it. Nevertheless, i won't mind "celebrating" christmas as long as it "bestows" upon me a lots and lots of german chocolate cakes and juicy grilled chicken for my bon appetitegrin

Note: i, while living in the USA, used to get frequently invited by the shy and very pretty looking mid-western blond class-mates of mine to enjoy all the good foods during christmas.. laugh

RE: Women are so selfish nowadays.

I personally think it is a good thing even though many will disagree with me..cheers

RE: Women are so selfish nowadays.

Ok...here is my philosophy when it comes to knowing women: the lesser i know a woman, the more kinda "exotic" she is to megrin rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Women are so selfish nowadays.

Gosh....some men made it so obvious for ya woman, didn't they?doh laugh

RE: Women are so selfish nowadays.

On a side note: the more confused is a woman, the easier it is for me to seduce and dominate themuh oh rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Women are so selfish nowadays.

Ok....from time immemorial, we men have defined and redefined women so many times in so many ways, i think that we have confused the hell out of them. At this point, i think, women don't really know what they should do or how they should behave to make us men happy. Poor women. laugh

RE: America discovered by Muslims??? Not Columbus???

Gosh....i wasn't even remotely suggesting this, chris! But, please free to interpret it however you prefer. It looks like i need to improve my English further.laugh

Bad news is: you can't make or force people to like, understand, love, accept, validate or be nice to you because you can't control them.

Good news is: It doesn't really matter

RE: America discovered by Muslims??? Not Columbus???

I agree, Guzmancheers

RE: America discovered by Muslims??? Not Columbus???

I agree with the highlighted part of your post, conrad. It shouldn't really be made about religions.cheers

RE: America discovered by Muslims??? Not Columbus???

Thank you for your response, Guzman. But i don't really want to debate here with anybody. I just summarized here what i believe to be relevant as far as the thread is concerned, and my response here is pretty much opened to dispute.cheers

RE: America discovered by Muslims??? Not Columbus???

My pleasure, chris. Here it is also worth noting that a number of great things, that muslims contributed to human civilization, were actually theorized or projected by Greeks and other earlier civlizations at some points of time. In these case, what muslims actually excelled during this period (700 AD- 1500 AD) is to gather all the great things/inventions by other civilizations and then putting them to the best use for humanity. cheers

RE: America discovered by Muslims??? Not Columbus???

continuing from the previous post...

Another sailor/voyager (between 1405 to 1433) named Zheng He, a Central Asian Muslim, led his fleet to voyage to the Western Sea for seven times. The number of ships of his fleet was from 40 to 63 each time, taking many soldiers and sailors on the voyage, with a total party over 27,000 people. Their ships navigated the wide sea area from Ryukyu Islands, the Philippine Islands and Maluku Sea to the Mozambican Channel and the costal areas of South Africa, developing mutual trade, exchanging culture and technologies, communicating traffic on the sea and promoting social and economic development in such countries and areas.

The mighty fleet voyaged on the Indian Ocean, not only astonishing the Arabian navigators, but also amazed the Venice businessmen who were coming and going between Hormuz and Aden, and thus providing a new enlightenment to the European navigation.

Here, an important point to note is Zheng He's voyages were 87 years earlier than Columbus and 92 years earlier than that of Vasco Da Gama.

RE: America discovered by Muslims??? Not Columbus???

Well....i wouldn't really care about who actually "discovered" America at this point because it doesn't change a thing about america except, of course, for academic reasons. I read the news about Mr.Erdogan's comment, and if i understood the news properly, he didn't quite say or mean that Muslims "Discovered" america, rather he was alluding to the fact that muslims just might have arrived in this continent before Columbus. In the same way, i wouldn't really mind if somebody suggests that some other groups or people may have arrived in America before muslims. Besides, i don't even understand why would anyone want to debate about "who discovered america first" as it is already an established fact that people were already living in this continent before some so-called "discoverers" arrived.

Anyway, the fact of muslims arriving in the continent of America, be it before columbus or after columbus, can not really be completely discounted, given the fact that they (muslims) were travelling every corner of the world for trade and land conquest between 700 AD and 1500 AD. It is also worth noting that during this period, muslims excelled in maritime trade.

Now, let us do some "fact" findings that just might prove the fact that muslims might have arrived in America long before Columbus. First, it is an well-known fact that before Columbus, there were many sailors who visited America, but who were they? i am not trying to reinvent the wheel, but extensive works and research have already been done in this area. Among some are "Deeper Roots: Muslims in the Americas and the Caribbean Before Columbus" written by Abdullah Hakim Quick.

In this book, the author tried to build upon the work of the renown author, Ivan van Sertima, who is a professor of history, at Rutgers University(US) and he is best known for this work, which very explains the Meso-american culture in the west, together with the kings from Egypt, the 25th Dynasty and their relationship with the Nubians, as well as other books such as Pre-Columbian Contacts, there are loads of work on this.

Now, if we just take little paint to climb a little in our history lessons, Columbus came to America on August 3, 1492, right? Erdogan says that the muslims "discovered" it 3 centuries before(i.e. in the 1100). So what really happned at that time? Well.. At that time, a man called Muhammad al-Idrisi, a progeny of the Prophet of Islam (peace be upon Him) via Hasan bin ALI was born just in 1099 . Al-Idriss draws the Tabula Rogeriana, the first most accurate world map drawn, in 1154, which makes it exactly 338 years before Columbus came to America. And, this map constantly remained the most accurate for the next 3-whole centuries. Now, Columbus discovered America in 1492, which would be 39 years before the wave of Renaissance in Europe. It is a well known fact and, CAN BE PROVEN, that the Renaissance was feeded by loads and loads of Books from Muslim Scientist written during the Muslim Golden Age such Ibn Haytham, Ibn Shatta among many others.

So, even if Columbus sailed there first, it was with the help of Muslim Maps. The proof? one Proof, as of today, is only 10 copies of Tabula Rogeriana remains, of which, two including the oldest lies in Bibliothèque nationale de France (Europe)and another in Bodleian Library in Oxford. And, the complete copy is in Istanbul. So, i wouldn't really be very surprised by what Erdogan is trying to suggest.

RE: god

Ok Leo. Thank you.

RE: god

well..when i was in the USA, Jesus (pbuh) was mostly used to be portrayed as a white man with blond hairlaugh

RE: god

Well..hello callie. God loves each and every human being. If you are talking about sufferings, many prophets have suffered more or less just like Jesus (peace be upon him). Now, you may probably be tempted to throw the word "son" as God called Jesus (pbuh) as his son..or at least, the biblical verses are interpreted like that. Anyway, if you want to throw the word "son" into this debate, then one may throw the following verses into the equation:

"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." (Romans 8:14)

In the Bible, God has thousands of sons. It is mentioned in:
a. Luke: 3 v. 38: "…Adam, which was the son of God."

b. Genesis, 6 v. 2: "That the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were fair…."

c. Exodus, 4 v. 22: "…Israel is my son, even my firstborn".”…For I (God) am a Father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn."

d. Psalms, 2 v. 7: "…the LORD hath said unto me, (David) ‘Thou art my son; this day have I begotten thee.’"

e. Matt 5 v.9- “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God”.

f. Jeremiah 31 v.9- Ephraim is my first-born.

g. In Acts 17 v. 29- “For as much then as we are the offspring of God”.

But anyway, i will always respect your religious belief and viewpoints as i am a muslim. And i will appologize if i hurt your feeling while discussing these things.peace hug

RE: god

one extreme gives birth to another extreme. *sigh* i have a feeling that if such extreme (ie.the son of god, begotten son)didn't exist, we wouldn't probably have seen so many people who are going to another extreme such as "there is no God"dunno

RE: god

Hey pedro, i respect your religious zeal, but do you honestly understand what really "begotten" means? Does ever occur to you how cleverly they are playing with words such as "begotten" to confuse the average person like you?

dunno

RE: god

lol....Agentajax, i don't understand why you keep messing with such an entity/figure who, you believe, don't exist? Anyway, having said that, i will agree with you what you wrote abovecheers
