RE: Darwin's Theory of Evolution

I too believe in Darwin`s Theory of evolution. I too believe in the Bible, studied it in its Greek and Lating versions too and studied Salvation History along with History of the Middle Eastern Culture.
Darwin and other scientific discoveries have helped me a lot to understand better the bible. Keeping in mind that we read translations some problems might arise. Besides there is knowledge lost. People in the bible did not know what computer was, let alone electricity. But then we do not understand the skies as navigational tools, calendars and sowing indicators. Or do we ?
The quesstion is that we have to be humble enough to admit in our wisdom that we have lost very much knowledge in one direction and gained more knowledge in the other. We are still discovering the meanings of many of the passages of the bible.
Our culture is different from the cultures of the middle east. The Hittite form of contract found in the Hittite culture is reflected in the bible and its format is the skeleton of most of today`s contracts.
Matthew 1, the infamous genealopgy of kings, it has been discovered that there is a homony there as there was a homonym in the word IKTUS (FISH) IKTUS stands for Jesus Christ Son OF God,Saviour How can one translate the homonym (FISH) into this meaning.
Literature too has changed as has the ethymology of words. GEHENNA (HEAVEN) used to be in the nether world. This was due to the fact that seeds sown in the ground gave birth to the plant. Hence the belief that life eternal was in the nether world. Our heaven is considered as being up in the skies this belief originates from the ascension of Christ to heaven. The richness and beauty of literature of times gone by and unfortunately forgotten, cannot be appreciated enough. There is literature using the number so perfectly to fit the context that its letters were the n used even more skillfully to convey further data. Eg. TWO. A writer would use the number as in TWO MEN He will also be using the number for the homonym Two Wise Owls. This is something we lost completely. Does it ever occur to us that good enough as English today is an international language Egyptian was then in its days the international language of the middle east ?
Two important landmarks go unnoticed in the Bible Ezekiel 18 Why do my fathers eat the grapes and my teeth........ Here we have a milestone in Theology. It was revealed to us that each and every one of us is responsible for his spiritual actions and relation with God. It was no longer the common, tribal responsibility. The other was the birth of Chrtist and the Last Supper. followed by the resurrection from death.
What we believe and how we believe is not going to change anything of the one single singular truth. Our versions and visions of truth may be manifold but in spite of all this will never have any bearing on the TRUTH itself. Truth is one, indivisible, whole and immutable.
I agree with the suggestion that when we touch on matters of politics, belief and religion we behave in the most civilized manner and bear respect toward each other.
At the last SUpper Jesus took the bread which was synonymous of the bread that used to be offered to the Deities of old. He took the wine which was synonymous with the baccanalia of the western deity. He took the twelve tribes of Israel, he took the sinner Judas, He took Himself His Divinity, he took the believer and the unbeliever, past present and future, blessed ALL, the bread, the wine, the people, (The Universe) Joined them together all in one body, Raised them to Divine status and returned the Holy Oblation for us to partake of it to eternity. I presume that when we start to understand in depth these events we will start constructing a better world of tolerance, understanding and respect toward one another.

RE: perfect profile

1.A profile should be a profile.
It must say the most when you write the least. It should let the heart flow through the pen and let the beholder read between the lines.
A profile tells others what a photo or picture do not.
2.From the other side of the fence.
A profile tells you a lot about those that read it and come back to you. It gives you the first inkling of what attracted them in reading it. Needless to say, if the profiler could read between the lines, then much is said when replies to profiles pour in.
3.A profile should....
A photo, is media, a tool to convey an image to the reader of your profile. It can be complimentary to your profile, it could be competitive to your profile and it could surpass your profile, and all vice versa. You cannot say you are jovial and not wear a smile in your photo. You cannot say you are warm in your profile and then wear glasses and stern lips in your photo. Your warmth is detected through your eyes, at times. A photo in your profile tells the people what you want them to portray of you. You project an image as to how you want people to see you. That is not the real you but the you you would want your viewer believe you are.
4. A profile IS YOU.
As you write a profile you start projecting an image to suit your intentions. Thus the tendency is that if you say you are easy going a few lines down the profile one would read naturally that you like outdoors, dining and wining, cruising, travelling.AHA.It fits. But then what does one say when one reads about your job or income. Can they cover this life style ?
This can go on for time eternal. Final hint. In a public speech competition three boys presented themselves and what they had to say. All other rivals came with pictures, slides, graphics and all sort of media. The three boys delivered their speech as did all others. The three boys were voted winners in 1st 2nd 3d places and carried away a distinction certificate from the panel. Public speech like a profile, is all about speech all the rest is secondary.
LOL My profile is the sleekest, meanest, lousiest, and all the words that end in ---est. Non est profeta in patria. Meditate people meditate.

RE: God is good

A very good start. So let us go on. We do not argue with unbelievers, we talk and communicate with unbelievers. We listen first, then we listen again. We think first and then think again. Then we see and see again. And when we think we have heard it all, seen all, understood all, we start thinking. Before saying anything we then consider that what we are going to say is not going to hurt anyone, it is not going to be misunderstood. And before we let any thought flow through our mouth we make sure that the force that is pushing those words is LOVE, that they meant to bear LOVE, and that where those words are going to land are going to find LOVE.

If only God were to grant us this ability and wisdom, the unbelievers will first listen, then listen again. Then they will see and see again and by the time they would say anything, their hearts would be so full of love that they will unfailingly start searching for and find God.

Then they will listen and listen again to God, then they will see and see again God, and when they think they found God they will think again that they too can give LOVE to others, their and our NEIGHBOUR.

It takes few seconds to think., few seconds to see, few seconds to say something, but it takes a lifetime of learning to have the power of love push your words out of your mouth.

RE: God is good

Oh ! Look at the sun. It is warm to say the least. Irrespective of how you look at it, in truth and substance it will still be the sun and it will still radiate light and warmth.

Similarly God is good irrespective of how you look at it.

God is so good that he gave you the freedom to call the sun the moon and the moon the sun. But then if it comes to this .......???? handshake

RE: Fundamentalism Defined

We have two eyes to look with but when I read your blog I can only see you looking through one.
You thrive on the question If God is omnipotent then ........ If God is ......... then..........

I think your other eye should be pondering :

God the omniscient love, loved man so much that He gave man his complete freedom. Man can pull the plug anytime in his life, man is free to become that which he opts for. It is this freedom that the good Lord gave us men that is perplexing many. It is His love which we keep rejecting.

The problem is not with God, the problem is with man. It is man that opts to become a fundamentalist, and GOD loved us all so much that he has given the fundamentalist the freedom to become fundamentalist while not forgetting us by giving us the freedom to choose not to become evil fundamentalists and better judgement to discern between right and wrong, good and evil There is no problem with God showering his love on us all without distinction. The problem is with us as some accept and reciprocate that love while others reject it outright and still some others misperceive it.

The problem is with us; we do not take that love, cherish it, nourish it and let it flow onto others. We take that love lock it in our hearts and sing alleluia, we are saved. We will never be saved unless and until such time as we perpetuate and perpetrate the act of redemption. That we can do by turning to our right or to our left, where our neighbour is, and shower on our neighbour that same love with which God loved us.

It goes to say then that it is worth remembering that the simple things in life can make humanity, that little smile on the face, that heartfelt greeting, that simple question "Can I help you ?" those small words like STP
(Sorry Thank You Please) et alia et similia can change the world radically. When we start THINKING, TALKING
ACTING in terms of WE AND NOT I
that we start pleasing God who will permit gladly that we do act in that way.

handshake

Tut tut you should know at this stage that I view all religions as equally bunk

You make this issue very interesting. Reading what you write, you always put yourself as the subject of tale, story, myth or issue, indeed. Find out those stories and books that centre you as the subject of love. Discover the truth that in running away from or evading things, even religion, projects your weakness and fears.

You seem to be looking on the world from inside the security of your own home, locked behind the security of locked doors, and barred windows, bolted locks, without realising that you are living in a paper house.

If I may ask have you ever wondered what religions think of you ? Have ever heard of the people out there who are willing and able to give to you rather than take away from you ? Have you ever given yourself the chance to people to come to you and share with you ? In your blog you put a teapot into the cosmic space then made hypothetical assumptions which are not logically correct. You only posed us with TWO hypotheses, why didn`t you give us all the hypotheses to ponder on ? Or are you not aware, in the first place, that there are other hypotheses and possibilities ? Start digging friend.

Do not give us that crap that you don`t care a damn. Do you realise that if you do not care a dime, you are caring not to care ?

You are trying to project your image on us. Irrespective of which image of yourself you try to project on us it will not be neither wise nor prudent to comment until we get to know the real you and not your image. Oherwise we ourselves will be illuded and trapped into thinking that you are the image you are projecting and not the real you.

Till we get to know you, try to find out what religions think about Y O U and Y O U R S E L F and then let us exchange notes.

beer Cheers and beers friendbeer

RE: I need some advice on this

Hi Pal. The thing is you have to climb the first step to come to the top and a journey always begins with the first step. Learn to feel your heart and let your heart talk. If you want to know if your girl likes you, that is rational, that is the mind. Girls hearts speak a lot so listen and her heart will tell you that she likes, only have to learn to listen to the charming words. Even if she does not like you and you love her, set her free and let her make her decisions in pursuit of her happiness. Feel happy for her because you love her true love and be even happier when she finds her happiness because you would have given her the freedom to find herself.

Good luck and may you both have a bright, merry, jolly future full of health and happiness. Never forget every now and then to lift your heart and mind to heaven.
