We have two eyes to look with but when I read your blog I can only see you looking through one.
You thrive on the question If God is omnipotent then ........ If God is ......... then..........

I think your other eye should be pondering :

God the omniscient love, loved man so much that He gave man his complete freedom. Man can pull the plug anytime in his life, man is free to become that which he opts for. It is this freedom that the good Lord gave us men that is perplexing many. It is His love which we keep rejecting.

The problem is not with God, the problem is with man. It is man that opts to become a fundamentalist, and GOD loved us all so much that he has given the fundamentalist the freedom to become fundamentalist while not forgetting us by giving us the freedom to choose not to become evil fundamentalists and better judgement to discern between right and wrong, good and evil There is no problem with God showering his love on us all without distinction. The problem is with us as some accept and reciprocate that love while others reject it outright and still some others misperceive it.

The problem is with us; we do not take that love, cherish it, nourish it and let it flow onto others. We take that love lock it in our hearts and sing alleluia, we are saved. We will never be saved unless and until such time as we perpetuate and perpetrate the act of redemption. That we can do by turning to our right or to our left, where our neighbour is, and shower on our neighbour that same love with which God loved us.

It goes to say then that it is worth remembering that the simple things in life can make humanity, that little smile on the face, that heartfelt greeting, that simple question "Can I help you ?" those small words like STP
(Sorry Thank You Please) et alia et similia can change the world radically. When we start THINKING, TALKING
ACTING in terms of WE AND NOT I
that we start pleasing God who will permit gladly that we do act in that way.

I don't much care for proseletizing for (or against) ANY set of beliefs. It's not the whistle that pulls the train.

And this might be in the wrong thread, but I don't think so - One is as good (or as bad, according to the O.P.) as another.

JMHO...

trish123:

Sincere people who come to religion often come as a result of guilt and shame. Such a motivator often leads the seeker to a fundamentalist religion which tries to assure the follower that he need not concern himself with his guilt and shame because of some doctrine which exempts him from responsibility for the situations that cause that guilt and shame. Among many Christian fundamentalist groups, that exemption is found in the doctrine of the redemption of Christ.

That sense of exemption relieves the guilt and shame, and thereby makes the follower feel good. .

Thats been an observation of mine throughtout life and there's no need to mention any names, but you can see people here who have been through difficult things in their life or who have done some rather so called dispicable things (in the conformist eyes of society aka sinning). they were people doing or seemingly doing bad things and this god nonsense, delusionary or otherwise placates them and their shame. I'm pretty sure its more shame than guilt as well but thats another matter.
