Personally... I've 'MET' none! Although, I have had some pretty amazing pen-pals as a result of being a member of C.S. There have also been a couple of .... 'difficult' ... personalities that I've had to deal with as well. Chances are... 'I've' been one of those 'difficult' personalities for someone else as well. Never meant to be! I do enjoy the ability to correspond with people from all around the world - that's pretty cool stuff!!
'Debate' is good I agree! 'Confrontation' on the other hand, somewhat defies the very idea of 'respect'. Debate and Confrontation are two entirely different approaches.
A really intelligent man that is 'full of himself' would be a pretty difficult individual to tolerate I would think? Seems his style would be very critical, cynical, sarcastic and selfish! The man that was 'not so intelligent' would at least be to stupid to be overly cynical, sarcastic and degrading.
Seems that the ladies have spoken guys.... they don't like us to be 'overly confident' in our conduct! (At least in a 'show-off' sort of way). Humility goes a long way!
Sunday for me, as every other day of the week is WORK, WORK, WORK.... it's the one day when I can relax and take in some good Bible teaching and have some nice social time visiting with other folks that attend the fellowship meeting, then catch up on some rest.
In my particular case, it seems to be my unwavering stand of waiting to meet someone that I 'see' as being attractive (to me) by their fit/slender/athletic or toned physical features. It seems my unbending 'preferences' are my impossible hurdle in advancing in the race for love. I'm well known in my community for my honesty, being a hard worker, reliability, moral uprightness, having a generous nature, my healthy sense of humor, my straightforwardness, good communicator, my love for children and animals..... but.... still no takers... (that fit my preferences). Is it a sin to have preferences?
Your question of how does God decide who is worth saving and who isn't is an easy question to answer...
"For God so loved the WORLD - (that includes YOU) - that HE gave HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, that WHOSOEVER - (that also includes YOU) - believeth in Him, should NOT perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
Having the free will that God gave us at the time of creation puts YOU in a position of determining where YOU spend your eternity.
Simply stated... Believe (in faith), God's truth (His Word - The Bible) and become one of His children by asking the Lord Jesus Christ into your heart to forgive you of your sin - which He already has! - (if you'll just receive that gift of forgiveness in faith by asking Him for it!) Seal your eternal existence in His Kingdom through and by His own promise - which He cannot and will not break.
OR....
By your own free will, reject God's Word of truth and seal unto yourself an eternal separation from Him and His glory.
Ultimately, your eternal destiny rests entirely upon your own position of decision making.
Ephesians 2:8,9 says... "For by grace are ye SAVED through FAITH; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Even the 'faith' that is required to be saved is freely given by God to those who earnestly desire to know Him).
The declarations you've made of your admirable actions toward others and animals, although a wonderful testament to your humanity, does NOT play into an ability or hope of achieving acceptance by God into His Kingdom. "No One" - (Sister Theresa included)... enters into God's Kingdom without going through the only door provided by Himself, - (that 'door' being the Lord Jesus Christ Himself). Jesus said in the Gospel of John 14:6: ... "I am the way, the truth, and the life... NO ONE comes unto the Father, but by me." If 'good works' could get us into Heaven, then the sacrifice of Christ on the cross was in vain. The fact that we are not 'good enough' even at our BEST, requires an acceptable sacrifice on our behalf in order to meet the righteous demand of God for pure holiness. NONE of us have that to offer! But His Son, Jesus Christ did - and He lovingly, freely and WILLINGLY laid down His life on behalf of all mankind. Of your own free will... accept that truth and ask Christ in faith to be your Savior through confession of your sin and willful repentance from it, and become a child of God and enjoy the eternal benefits of being an heir to His Kingdom, OR..... Don't -
and discover for yourself the poor choice of that decision for all eternity. It's that simple.
falconlady.... what a tremendous testimony! Thank you for sharing!!
The ongoing theories of so-called science to disprove the existence of God only supports the very Word of God where it declares in Romans 1:22-25 (Excuse my 'Bible Thumping' here for a moment)....
"Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four footed beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen."
The Bible (once again) in Psalm 53:1 declares... "The FOOL hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good."
It is my personal belief that the main reason people want to eliminate God from existence is because in doing so, they free themselves (mentally) from having to give an account of their choices in life - that down deep inside, they know to be against the very nature of God's Righteousness, Holiness. In getting rid of God, they free themselves of judgment and accountability for sin. As long as God exists there's the danger of impending judgement.... get rid of God... NO JUDGEMENT! After awhile... they begin to believe their own lies, which are nothing more than seeds planted by the father of ALL LIES.
Thank you for the clarification on 'OP' (opening poster) - This was my first exposure to this site and I am admittedly 'Wet behind the ears!' Go easy on the Newbie!! :-) Thanks Again!! OP :-)
'PROOF' is in the very nature of your ability to ask me to prove it! You have a brain, you have the ability to think and process information, you have the ability to express your beliefs and 'OPINIONS' these abilities did not develop from some evolutionary process that began with muddy soup. "LIFE" It's self is PROOF of the existence of a God of great intelligence.
There most certainly is a GOD, and regardless if people want to believe it or not, every living soul will face that God either in judgement for eternal damnation, or acceptance into His Eternal Kingdom because of their willful faith in trusting Him and His Only Begotten Son (The Lord Jesus Christ - Who is GOD in the flesh).
Is ETERNITY worth gambling on, when a simple step towards accepting Christ as your personal Lord and Savior in faith is all it takes to change that eternal destination?
How many use this site solely for the purpose of arguing w/ others just for the fun of it?
Hum? enjoy myself..... that sounds lonesome! I'd rather be with someone that drinks water and exercises regularly!
