when holden ditched its aussie v8 and went to the 5.7 gen III moter, the holden bofins decided to use different rings in it 4 some reason, and they used oil from day one. they did do a recall but to fix there errors though
ok, depends on how much u want to spend on the diagnosis really?
i would take it to another mechanic for a second or third opinion i think. pick a good one but. some workshops have brilliant diagnostic equipment these days, they can do a compression leakdown test on it to give a good idea to the condition of the motor, and they can run it on the dyno with a sniffer up the exhaust to sus out why and under what conditions it might be using it. these tests might cost a bit, but depending on what they find it might be relatively cheap 2 repair, or easier to trade it on something else
i bought mine a ford courier dual cab turbo diesel 4wd from the goverment actions with just under 30km on the clock, balance of new vechical warranty etc around 2002 i think. have serviced it myself since the new vechical warranty ran out and its now got 245 000km on the clock still going strong and not using any oil. would never buy a car from a car yard, i really dislike car salesman, think they are all crooks
