mabe its only now that they belive they have the technology to put a launch pad on the moon.. why would they waste time and spend millions to go back the moon and bring down rocks and dust that thay already have...??? the mission in 2018 is to see if humans can live on the moon wich is a bigger chanllenge then walking on the moon for a few hours so naturally its going to take along time...
They have made a date to go back to the moon in 2018.. the reason why its 9 years away is because they plan to stay there alot longer then a few hours... nasa want to make the moon a lunch site to explore the universe better...
