There are so many reasons why people change their looks... some of them don't really do it to be more appealing to others, it's more a taste related thing.
But some people who obsess about looking hotter, younger, thinner, taller, etc. Might have been “taught” to not to accept themselves by people who always tease them and whatnot… And sadly this sometimes happens within the family!
I remember when I was young (probably around 12 years old) a neighbor had a daughter about my age, and it was the mother who’d have her daughter go on a diet, and she wasn’t even heavy! She was growing up! I also remember not long ago being at the salon having my hair cut when this lady came in with her young daughter (she couldn’t have been older than 10 or 11). She had the girl’s eyebrows waxed and plucked… poor thing was crying in pain! Ok, she might’ve had kind of thick eyebrows… but these are young girls we are talking about! And their wacko mothers! I have plenty of examples like these, some of them I can give from my own personal experience: I didn’t like make-up, but my mother’s sisters would always be asking me why I didn’t bother… One of them would call me and my sister fat… and the list goes on.
So I say that if you like changing your hair color, wearing make up, wear certain type of clothes, etc, it’s okay as long as it is because you feel like doing it out of fun… And don’t listen to those who just criticize and pick on you.
I certainly have decided to ignore him. I am mostly tempted to rub my many achievements on his face, but I wont waste my energy on doing that. But reading what you guys come up with is great!
Don't know "when"... He'd have to be on CS, and then he'd know about this poll! But I'm sure that in his version, I'm a gold digging, opportunistic harpy. I know cuz that's what he told everyone we knew.
Perhaps I should make clear that I am not interested in him anymore. AT ALL.
And I also feel like he just wants to see what I've managed to do with myself without him. Like he feels bad, and he should, and wants to make sure I've been OK just so he can sleep at night.
I'm sorry to rain on your parade, but it's not a "big" day in Mexico. For some reason it became extremely popular in the States, where I've heard some people mistake it for our independence day (which is in September 16th) or think it's the most important national holiday we've got. In reality it just commemorates the day when the Mexican army defeated the French in Puebla in the 1860's--- they were fighting over a debt the Mexican government had to the French.
Overall, this is a regular day, it's not observed as a holiday really, everybody work and go to school as in any other day.
Of course I can't speak for all Latin men in the world! The same way neither you or any other person here (or anywhere else for that matter) could.
Mexico is not only inhabited by Mexicans, specially Mexico City! We got Brazilians, Panamenians, Hondurans, Colombians, so many Argentineans... Spaniards, Italians. You name it! My sister is with a Brazilian, and friends of mine with Peruvian, Argentinean, and Panamenian guys... That might not be an absolute answer, but still...
I would like to mention something I forgot in my previous post. Latin men are, in general, greatly attracted to blondes and fair skinned women, that might be an important factor in finding out whether they are more passionate.
Maybe it's just that they become more romantic and intense with blondes?
RE: why do we feel we are not beautiful?
