I was living in the Springs in 1970, my friends and I would cruise Nevada Ave, especially on the military paydays, ... my one friend had a 1966 Chevelle Malibu, it was ordered with the 327 / 350 hp motor with a wide ratio 4-speed and I think 3:73 rear end gears, the car was unbelievable... 70 mph in first gear, 90 in second gear, 115 in third gear, once he hit 4th gear, the speedometer buried and started shaking ... all the time, accelerating so hard you were pinned to the seat... it was scary fast, he only got beat once, The GI's thought they had fast cars, other then a deep rumble, the Chevelle looked stock, it was easy to get races with Hemi's and Cobra Mustangs, my friend had fun on Friday nights. Your 59 Ford wagon and 48 Dodge 3 window sound nice, my Dad had a 48 Dodge, business coupe I think... thanks for the Nevada Ave memories, ... This is what my friends car looked like...
