RE: Divorce rate so high in America. Why?

Ok, here is my realistic (almost pessimistic view). I think the divorce rate among americans are high for several reasons (now when I say all of this, this is GENERALLY speaking, not everyone is like this). But, americans tend to be shallow (this is something I've witnessed first hand in LOTS of reltionships). People will rush into marriage without really getting to know their partner first. Probably because they know they can just get a divorce if it doesn't work out. Or it could be a self-esteem issue, if they don't get married quickly, maybe they think they are going to lose their partner?

And why is it lower in other countries? From what I've seen, it's due to family, culture or religion. I would imagine that in those places, if there wasn't a social or family out-lash related to a divorce, it would be more common, especially with arranged marriages(I have also seen how this affects people).

It comes down to this, people are the same no matter where they are from, if it were more accepted in other places, it would be just as high.

RE: creationism or evolution, or neither??

Well, how many Christians and other religions that believe that everything was created by a divine entity? I don't know, but I would "assume" that if you add all of those people up, it would equal to "most" laugh

Maybe I used the incorrect term. I do not have hard statistics to prove it, just going on what I know from personal experience. But then again, I do live in the Bible belt.

RE: Somebody talk about something, please. Read any good books, etc.?

It's WV! How could there possibly be anything interesting to talk about? :)

RE: creationism or evolution, or neither??

Back when I was younger and regularly attending church, I came up with my own theory, Creadaptationism. Which, simply put, intelligent design started the whole process, and through the years, creatures adapted and mutated into different species and sub-species. That's all evolution is, mutatation and adaptation to different conditions (just over a REALLY long time scale) Creatures are still doing that today. We just don't notice as much and conditions aren't changing drastically enough to cause a quick rise in different species. Although, the one example I do remember of adaptationism, was a species of iguana on the Galapagos islands.

I know most people mostly don't believe in evolution because they do not see the link between apes and humans, but tend to ignore every other species that may have "evolved" from something else. Are we evolved from apes? I don't know. If I remember correctly, they share 98% of their DNA with ours. I walk a fine line between believing in a divine entity that created everything and science.

I've been mostly hanging out in chat, but thought I would drop by the forums and at least introduce myself :)

I have to say, this is an awesome site! I just wish there were more women from my state on here. The pickin's are pretty slim. But I've met a lot of nice people from all over the world. It seems I have better luck with women in other countries. Hmmm...what's that tell me? :)

Anyways, here I am!
