I'm grand. It was great to see the photos of the meet. Don't know how I managed it but I was in photos with 3 seperate young fellas ;-). I really enjoyed the night and hope to meet up with you at another one. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming to me. I think that night shows the true spirit of CS.
Just decided to join a nice thread. Today while others were otherwise engaged on their computers I managed to set up and download my music to my new MP3 player, all by myself, which was a miracle as I am normally a Luddite when it comes to technology.
Then I took my dog for a walk down on Dollier, listened to my music, while watching the waves crash up on to the sand. And, watched, with great pleasure, the amazing moves of about a dozen, young, hunky male kite surfers. Wow, some days are sooooooooooo good ;-)
Thank you for making me feel so welcome at my first get-together last night. As I went in by myself I was really nervous, but everyone was so friendly that I soon felt at home. It was a great night.
Lovely to see all the trubutes to Michael Jackson. I know he had his faults, but he could make some good music. Played his Jackson Five Cds in my car today. He's been around for most of my life. Can't believe how sad I feel today.
I really regret all the times we slagged my Mam for being totally heartbroken when Mario Lanza died. The story became a family joke, passed on to us by her younger brothers.
Today I know how she felt. Lucky I will see her tomorrow and be able to tell her :)
My first concert was 1972 or '73. RDS, the Stylistics. We saw it advertised in the paper on Saturday night. It was on at 3pm on Sunday. We paid at the door. It was probably one of the first outdoor concerts in the RDS.
When I saw Rod in the '70s we were just walking past the door, saw the poster, paid our money, and went in.
Just by comparison, The Stylistics are playing the National Concert Hall on November 1st. Even this far ahead there are limited tickets available. How times change eh!
Yes, you're safe enough. I go to most of my concerts in Dublin. Only been to two outside Dublin, David Gray in Killarney, and Meatloaf in Belfast, cos I go to all his and I couldn't get a ticket for Dublin. So all you country dwelling, concert going, aging rockers are quite safe.
I've been to most of the Eagles gigs. The first was the 'Hell Freezes Over' tour. It was called that cos when they broke up first and were asked if they would ever get together again, they said 'yes, when Hell freezes over.'. It took them 25 years to reunite. As an aging rocker myself, I just take them as they come. Their music is worth it.
I only saw Rod once before, in the 70s, when I was living in England. I am convinced that I saw him at his best back then so would not go to see him again. But I've decided to give him another shot. I'm sure he'll be just as great :-)
I joined this site a few days ago, and read some threads to suss out how it works. I was astonished at some of the content.
I have had some IMs, emails, flowers etc, and have responded to some. Now I am wondering if any of them are genuine, or am I setting myself up for some grief. I see that some members are even wary of newbies.
Wonder if I should just get out of here and take my chances in the Arlington. Or maybe stalk a few aging rockers at the Eagles and Rod Stewart concerts next week.
My favourite quote (no idea where I read it or who wrote it):
Each of us fears the other more than anything else. I want you to know that you have nothing to fear from me.
RE: New Day New Threads
Hi MLoved yesterdays 'between your legs' thread. It was great just having some harmless fun.
Can't help you with the knitting patterns, but I have loads of crochet ones if that's any use ;-).
No kite surfers down on Dollier today, but sure I can't get that lucky every day :-)
