A pretty dress
Hair, make-up, high heels
She walks with confidence and purpose
Her hips swaying suggestively
As long, untamed curls flow behind her
Strangers stop and stare
She knows they like what they see
Because what they see is a mask
A trick to hide the truth
She alone knows the ugly reality
Revealed behind locked doors
But she closes her eyes to it
Can't bear to look
But if she won't
Who will
Who will want to see

What keeps me here
If I left would you care
Maybe you wouldn't notice
I reach out to you
Silently screaming in pain
Despair encases my soul
I'm trapped
Can't cry, can't breathe
Numb
And so I must escape
End my pain by my own hand
It flows from my body on a crimson wave
I grow weaker
Enclosed by darkness as freedom inches closer
I fall deeper into the abyss
Peacefully asleep
For all time
