rings of time

What is age but date of life
date on which you see the sky
date you take your first true beat
From mother you cannot see

For your eyes are still not focused
on her chest you look so hopeless
blanket pulled up to your head
your little ears poke out instead

And as you grow, you will get hurt
Both by life and both by dirt
And as you grow evermore
You will find me at your door

For life is full of all suprises
twinkle in your eyes and mine its
ours to share and ours to hold
Age is just what we are told

we grow weary over time
afraid to shine our diamond smile
afraid to open up our hand
incase this man slips through like sand

but fear not this man is good
he builds the fire and chops the wood
he'll doze the forest if you are cold
but you would hate that i know

fingers through your golden curls
in that cute dress i shall twirl
i shall learn the twirling moves
to lift your feet out of your boots

And let that hair tickle my chest
in the meadow with your breasts
your hair still wet from our last swim
the moisture still within your skin

we smile so much we bang our teeth
a love so real we cannot breathe
as we share eachothers breath
you may die atop my chest

poety shows truth of pain
no glory lost no glory gained
an even balance at the end
i get to share with my best friend

Age is how you measure time
Not love and lust, distance and wine
it is the measure of a tree
But age shall never conquer we
