I believe that Socrates said that not because we really do not know anything but because the more we learn the more we realise how much more there is to learn...but that doesn't make invalid what we already know. People do show who they are through their posts on here...some more, some less but generally enough to have a decent picture of their character. Even chameleons have a predictable pattern of change...
Hmm, does this activity happens in a regular basis or it was one off?! If it's one off you have nothing to worry about... If not, may be try frying spray instead...
Oh yes, I've been on these forums years ago, well, I survived... Some people feel safe to be themselves and even expose their hidden in real life sides, because of the anonymity of internet... Others love the chance to be something they are not. Are there are the majority of normal people who don't feel the need to pretend...
We all have been here for years and it means we like something about it... More or less we show who we really are with the time, without even realising it...
Like Pat said, many live in their own bubble... Must be shocking for them to realise there's a different way of existence... But what I really feel bad about is the bitterness...it shouts loudly on here...
I don't relate age, religion and race to comfort zone... Out of the comfort zone would mean a LDR that you definitely want to make real and working... Then sacrifices are to be made for sure...
