There is A Light That Never Goes Out
There is A Light That Never Goes Out by The Smiths- I find the lyrics to this song to be enchanting and oh so enticing. Simplistic yet profound.Take me out tonight
Where there's music and there's people
Who are young and alive
Driving in your car
I never want to go home
Because I haven't got one anymore
Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people
And I want to see life
Driving in your car
Oh please don't drop me home
Because its not my home, its their
Home, and I'm welcome no more
And if a double decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by you side
Well the pleasure, the privilege is mine...
The imagery my mind creates when I listen to this song brings relief. It tugs me in two directions. The first finding a glimpse of happiness before death. The second obviously pure genuine love. This song was the song that my first lover and I chose as our own when we were sixteen. It seems like its been forever, but it has only been about two years since. Our light unfortunately went out, but this song still shimmers.
