It's Possible to Find Love on Connecting Singles

I'd like to tell you my story. Of how I found my soul mate here, and how I lost him. I am writing this story to put closure to this episode of my life so I can move on. What you take out of it, is up to you.
Last March I signed up here and created a profile. Like most people, I went on a few dates to try things out. But, I live in small country where very few men match what I am looking for. Just as I was about to give up, I received a short mail from him. He called himself the yankee.
We clicked from the first date. I would not exaggerate and tell you it was love at first sight, as we are both far from our teenage days. He was especially careful as he has two very young children. They are the first priority in his life. I respect that about him.
Soon, we traveled to Iceland and not long after, professed love.

One day, I felt like we had a big breakthrough. The yankee allowed me to chat with his children on skype. They live in a remote suburb far from the city. The yankee was separated and lived in an apartment.

I was careful as I did not know how to date a single dad, moreover one who was not fully divorced. A few times, I asked if it was OK for us to hold hands in public. He told me that the separation was mutual and the mum to his kids knew. Later, we even started to make plans for the future. We talked about kids and traveling etc.

Three months of romance and loads of fun later, the yankee started withdrawing. He wrote me to tell me that he was diagnosed with a degenerative condition which would affect his mobility. This would affect his work a lot.

He told me to move on with my life and he would concentrate on his kids. I was devastated. Everything he wrote made sense. So I tried and tried to move on. Had I stopped and listen to him back then, I would not be where I am today.
