For United Kingdom Only
Pardon my ignorance how come England has a Queen butnot a King: according to Hollywood's movies is the
King who's ruling this is not a machism thinking
instead a curiousity.

King.
King George VI didn't have son, and his elder brother was resigning to be a King. So after him, the throne went to Queen Elizabeth, King George VI first daughter.
Short explanation. I don't know if my answer is also true. I answered this based on my common knowledge. :) I hope it's satisfying.
it is like the game of chess, King is the highest,
seeing as Liz (queen) was the eldest of 3 children it then goes to her, had there been a son Liz would not have been queen.
It is always the eldest Son, if no son eldest daughter.
And Lizzie's (Queen) hubby is not a part of British royal family until marriage s he could not be king.

To some, this was the love story of the century. To others, it was a scandal that threatened to weaken the monarchy. In reality, the story of King Edward VIII and Mrs. Wallis Simpson never fulfilled either of these notions. Instead, the story is about a prince who wanted to be like everyone else.
They would have had a King but Edward chose love over the crown.
Monte, then the Anthem will be God Save The Kingm right? I thought it'd be William, no?
Harry to be a king, I wonder what it would be like. hehehe.. We might see a jubilee just like the last one more often then.. Maybe even crazier. :D
why " For United Kingdom" ... official name;
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
second ... "England has a Queen"
the ( British) Commonwealth (of Nations) has the Queen
The British system does allow for the crown to be worn by either gender. i.e. A king or queen's eldest daughter or son may become the future king or queen. This has not always been so. Previously it was the monarch's eldest son (irrespective of whether he had elder sisters) who was heir to the throne.
This has been changed and it is now simply the eldest child of the monarch who is first in line for the throne.
Unlike some countries, for example Thailand, where there has never been a ruling queen (only male heirs can become king) though this needs to change there as the aging king's eldest son is a useless, gambling organised crime head and the king's daughter is the popular successor.
(by the way - I would be arrested and locked up for posting this in Thailand under ancient Les Majest legislation).
sorry bunga, but that one you deserved.
Btw i never seen a hollywood film really caring about kings? Not real kings. More like the king of Queens...
