John 19: 30
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost... This was a shout of triumph, declaring the completed and accomplished work of the cross. "It is finished" proclaimed(1) The accomplished fact of Jesus' earthly mission given Him by the Father.
(2) The fulfillment of important OT prophecy about the suffering Messiah. (3) The completed work of redemption as the sacrificial and Passover Lamb of God involving blood atonement.
(4) The decisive moment of victory over Satan and his network of demons
(5) the achieved means of reconciliation of God with His creation and sinful humanity. Nothing can be added to the finished work of the cross for salvation. The way of salvation is now open to all who believe, repent and draw upon Christ's work finished at the cross!
