1st Time in Barbados: 6-14-2011

I was on edge... nervous and anxious at the same time. I had booked my flight months in advance, and the wait was killing me. Literally, it felt like it.

Chicago to Miami to Bridgetown. Everything went smooth.

My first night the power went out, which was tough because I wasn't used to the heat. I adjusted. I had to.

Browne's beach, Chefette's. Even the KFC and Sprites taste different in the Caribbean. Long walks. Very very very long walks to pork limes and gas stations. Bank's and Silver. 'Fish & Two'. A home-cooked meal of fish cakes and other vegetables I'd never eaten before. Ju-C's. Late nights listening to the TeleClassifieds while they played a jazzy instrumental of "How Deep is Your Love" by the BeeGees. Strangely enough, I get nostalgic still, every time I hear it now.

I thoroughly enjoyed my vacation, and my first trip out of the country. Interestingly though, I love it just enough to visit every year. Living there might wear out it's charm. Hmmmm... Decisions, decisions.
