Use an email client like outlook exress to downlod your mail to your pc.
Delete your mail on yahoo/gmail/whatever immediately after downloading. Outlook Express will do it for you.
Never put your contacts on yahoo/gmail/etc.
Keep it only on your machine. Leave them nothing to hack.
Don't make it easy for hackers. A password like 'sj4CgE8Jp48' is very difficult to hack but 'baby' or '1234' is easy to hack.
