I have come across a lot of lonely people who just feel a need to skype and drink, when it comes to meeting they don't want to.
I would say this is because they are married or involved in some kind of dysfunctional situation they are not 100% sure they want out of. dunno

It does not make them bad people just alone to some extent.
I mean just don't let their ways rub off on you.scold
