The Magical Dance!
I went to the LA County Fair again last night and as usual I went to the Latin pavilion where they have all kinds of Latin American entertainers. And this one particular couple was there again!I have blogged about this couple before but last night for one dance you just had to be there to experience one huge happy moment.
This couple comes quite often the pavilion to listen to the Salsa, the Mariachis, the variety of Hispanic musicians and their different styles. I don't know what his name is but the man honors his wife by hanging a homemade banner on the back of her wheelchair that says, Perlita (Pearl in Spanish) my Love! I have mentioned this before also, but she is completely incapacitated by MS, I think. Her arms flail, she is practically doubled in half as she sits in the wheelchair and her face is grotesque with her tongue hanging out as if she is mocking someone. This I have not mentioned before because it is so personal. But today I do and as the story continues you will see why.
Her condition does not deter her from having fun and somehow she glides that wheelchair in circles as she "dances". She may have been "cheated" out of a normal life, but she refuses to believe it. She laughs and flails her arms as she dances round and round. Sometimes her husband stands behind her and guides her wheelchair in a rhythm that they understand. They are dancing together. It looks marvelous.
This good tune begins and this beautiful Black woman gets up and dances with her baby boy. He is happy as he "rocks" in his own rhythm and steps. Then "Perlita" gets her wheel chair in position and she starts twirling. Her husband joins her and starts pushing her around. This other man gets up and tells the husband to stand in front of her and the three twirl and dance together.
Meanwhile the crowd gets up and a little boy jumps on the floor with his star Wars sword and begins to rock. Then another lady and her daughter get up and the little girl in her huge hat adorned with fuzzy feathers start rocking.
Then the little sweet Black child with his mother notices how Perlita looks. His mother gently pulls aside and speaks to him. The sweet young child then dances over to Perlita and holds her hand as he dances with her too.
It was tear time as those of us looked in awe of the wonderful movement of God's hand putting everyone together in "The Magical Dance"!

What a heartfelt story, this man proclaiming his love for his wife suffering from MS in a wheelchair by placing a banner calling her his love this is real dedication and true love
Exactly the way I see it. This man has stood by his Perlita through thick and thin as God intended a marriage to be.
AND! Their desire to live and love a happy life despite this disease!
Any tips to learn Waltz?
They both are so lucky to have each other and the dance was just a small piece on how they celebrate their love Perlita is a lucky girl
Exactly! I also wondered how they danced when she was able to stand up. I'll bet they really waltzed!!

Yeah, there a pretty special couple. I have seen them for 4 years now. The man is getting a little old and perhaps feeble but he still looks good. But the lady! She looks the same as just as energetic as the first time i saw her!
