The Dormant Child

Hidden under loose canopy a little boy waits to be unearthed and risen. Soaked with tears, yet compressed to satisfy the villagers pleas. He waits for the rainy season to end, but to no prevail it has not come to pass. Drowning in misfortune of what has passed and what is to come, this little boy waits for a speck of light to shine once more. Trembling in fear the guards keep close watch as this wretched child should not be released on earth. But if he should be allowed to walk, it will be spiritually known as a tragedy in the making.

Pikes and Lances jostle in the little boys’ direction as if to ward away an infectious disease. The villagers on Neighbourhood Watch keep close tabs on the activities that arise around the dormant inhabitant. Feeding the hunger of those around the dormant one was like an obligation that was never to be spoken. Four seasons may come and go but the subject of such indifference was made to last.

Disaster the crowd preach, o what have we done to deserve such filth in our midst. The cries were heard from hill to hill and mountain to mountain for all to hear, but the dormant one did not receive the echoes of the prejudice jury.
