fisherpeople & lies

hello, i was talking to a friend on the phone last night and he was telling me about a recent fishing trip, he and another mate went on.now, knowing these two blokes and somewhat doubting the size of the fish that they said they both caught and lost i come to the conclusion that they just may have been stretching the truth a bit. like i mean the fish that was so big that it wouldn't fit into a 12 ft tinny ??????? i wonder why when i go fishing with these blokes we never seem to catch fish like these. it sort of makes you wonder doesn't it. anyone got any good if fishy stories.confused dunno dunno mumbling

Yep, my son once came home and told me he saw a fish from the side of a river, raced into the river, dived and caught it.

As my son is sort of a straight guy, does not usually go over the top I sort of, maybe beleived him,
Then I saw the photo..... It was true. He had from the bank seen a slow Murray Cod. .. one of those rare large old things that you never see any more and sure enough, once he caught it, he held it high over his head long enough for his mate on the river bank to take a photo, then released it back.
The photo was sent to some fishing magazine and was published.
So here is a story that did not appear true but was.

hi merriweather, i can believe that one. my brother in law and myself were fishing in the condamine river here in qld when larry hooked a cod, he had to bring it in near a big snag on the bank and it got tangled up and his line snaped.well, larry had been tippling quite a bit and sinse the fish was tied to the snag he wasn't about to loose it, so off came his clothes and in he went,belly flop right on top of the fish.he got the fish out but he had a beautiful set of holes from the dorsal fin across his belly and chest. we to took photo's and let it go again, i also have a photo of that lovely set of holes. rob
