I am using this in relation to 'Something is in the air ' .I am concluding you are alluding to peoples lack of
ordinary 'niceness' homeliness, friendliness and a sense of community and comment decency~
I see in many areas, usually built up, or very run down where they have housed alot of people with Anti social problems together, that there is a fear, a sense of trouble, so nobody looks at anyone. The feeling is palpable.
However, I still believe that there are god people around, and although yesterday is gone... and that is sad in many ways [for the good things about yesterday] there are still good, worthwhile people arround.
It is just a case of getting involved in things [an example] and organsiations that help people, cook dinners for homeless, even a few hours a week, or less, will put you in touch with people, of all ages, young and old, that still care about the World.
