I think there are a lot of variables but you would at least have to have some lenghty visits first and make sure that you can get along in the long run. A life is a big thing to uproot especially if you have kids or an established career so it should be done so with a lot of thought and consideration.

that is always on my mind..i have my son liveing with me but not the job..the town i live in is a small place,very friendly people evrywhere but there is nothing around here really.i have done it once before but things blew up after 8 months and im back ere again.

I was facing the same dilema but it is on the backburner again now. I have my 3 boys and same thing, I live in a smallish town where everyone knows everyone (actually i am related to half of them, that is why I am on here!!
)and they all know your business. I wouldn't mind moving but if things don't work out, I don't want to be stuck somewhere I don't know anyone or have anything but then again if you never, never go............you know the rest!

I think it depends on how far you are willing to travel? 1 hour, 6? 12?
What are u leaving behind in sense of family support, friends, lifestyle?
I have done it before but I tell you it was hard work.
Hi Cherry as Ralf said I think to seriously concider relocating their would have to be a firm commitment of hearts , for me my family come first, my job sercurity independence is not something i can afford to squander ive worked too hard to get where i am & after being once left in a situation where i had nothing i will never be co dependant again.
If i could get work my family was happy to do it I may but it would be after a long time together .

I wouldn't move closer to 'get to know' them .. what if you moved closer and found out you didn't like them much after all?
I suppose if you loved the person its a viable option but for me it wouldn't even be considered until my youngest son finishes yr 12 and has made up his mind what he wants to do after it and both my boys are ok with it and are doing ok and not having a bad patch.
Now my kids are older I could move and my job I can do anywhere so none of those things already discussed by others are a real issue for me .. its whether I would want to ... If I was to move it would be because I need a change or I want to live somewhere different.. it wouldn't be specifically for a guy
but in saying all that.. its highly unlikely I will meet someone I would be willing to do that for ... I'm not that trusting ..
